So happy to finally see OKC have some success. Had that 'big 3' with PG, Brodie and Melo and they blew it up, for good reason. Watched SGA alongside CP3 that one season then a few years of bad losses to where they're at now. SGA is top 3 globally right now, and the team is special - we OKC fans be eating good this NBA season.

Shai would not have had the same development with kawhi as his sf. I think he has been doing this well because of his role as the leader in the locker room and on the floor. Shai came in with Chris Paul and had numbers similar to his rookie year. Granted this was his second season, however, a 12 ppg jump from year 2 to 3 can’t mean he wasn’t that guy in year 1 and 2. It just means he wasn’t getting the touches he needed.

As a huge Kobe fan, who watched all his career and the tail end of MJ's, his career most reminds me of them. Being willing to defend the opponents best perimeter player while at the same time being a 3 way scorer. Add in his ability to read the floor. To me he reminds me most of MJ and Kobe. Yes more than Booker, more than Tatum, Lavine, Murray and Edwards

it’s really close for sure, i say shai because i think they’re similar level defenders but tatum might be slightly better, they’re similar level scorers but shai might be a bit better, so those basically cancel out as even. but the biggest difference between them is i think shai is a better playmaker by a decent bit, plus he’s younger, so id honestly take shai. but it’s really close

Comparing FG % is a pointless stat. Reason is it punishes 3 point shooters and you already have 3 point and FT stats. It should be replaced with 2 point FG%. Tatum actually shoots slightly better than Shai from both 2 AND 3. Tatum is at 56% 2FG while Shai is 55%. Its really just free throws that gives Shai the eFG% edge.

Tatum has a lightened load compared to last year. he doesn’t shoot or control the offense nearly as much cuz of KP. SGA is fantastic but especially with Tatum’s elite defense it’s a close comparison not a gapping difference
