Shouldn't be like that. Modern breeders bred IN the drool by making them have so much excess skin on their mouth. It means they cant seal their lips properly i.e so much drool forms. The original dogs never had such loose mouths. People laugh at it but how would you like saliva hanging fron your lips all day every day.

Not crippled modern creation vs original moderate type. @@randyclark8774 i did not know, thanks for this information! Mine was dark grey, almost black. He had a lot of skin, but not that extreme. A friend of mine had one in a similar colour as mine , but he needed eye surgery because his lower eyelids drooped that much that they had trouble closing and got infected. The operation was a succes, no infections anymore and he could close the eyes much better and it looked way better. But it is sad that dogs are bred like this and because that they are born with such problems.

My neo mastiff adores our children ages 2,3 and 10. We have larger areas in our home so the smaller children being knocked around aren’t an issue. Hank is around 146 and is a mother hen to the children. We couldn’t imagine what it would be like without him. He has kept many a creeper away lol.

I'm certain you would be scared if one of these dogs randomly walked up to you. It's human nature to be uncertain of anything this size that can do damage with such ease. They are gentle giants and gorgeous dogs overall, but fear is natural if you don't know that.
