Neuropschology power couple John and Stephanie Cacioppo explore the spectrum of emotion from companionship to social isolation by peering into the human brain. Love, one of the most complex emotions (and a lifelong pursuit for most of our species), physically resides in an area of the brain that can be studied using advanced imaging techniques available at the University of Chicago's Center for Cognitive Neuroscience, directed by John Cacioppo, the Tiffany and Margaret Blake Distinguished Service Professor of Psychology. Stephanie Cacioppo, Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Psychology, explores the high cognitive function connected to love and desire, hoping to finally answer the question, "why do we fall in love?"

Smart people. Able to explain very detailed neuroscience in a way I could understand. Thank you.

How have i never thought of loneliness as an aversive signal. Im aware of good stress as motivation but somehow missed that connection. Brilliant thank you.

Loneliness isn't bad. Loneliness is the reason you can get the thought to talk to people.

Humm. Old fashion notions I expected some more insightful new science. .. Loneliness is not the same as being alone & love doesn't need other people to experience it.

There's no need for such explainations. Becouse, horrors are happening after doctors start to follow things like this. What happens in head when you are lonely, when you are angry, when you love, when you hate, etc is a consequence. That what happens in head is not a cause!... And look what psychiatrists are doing. When somebody feels unhappy, or what ever, when somebody feels different than he is supposed to feel and to act, psychiatrists force him to chemicals with the excuse they will rearrange his head to work the way neuroscientists say is normal. Psychiatrists don't see what's happening in someone's head, in biological sense. But they are told, thgey are learned, they are trained as dogs to recognize a certain behaviour or feelin as a projection of certain pattern in head that neuroscientists gave them. So, they tend to create a neuro-pattern of love, of social connections, of acceptable thinking, of acceptable believing, of acceptable point of view, etc, with drugs. WITH POISONS!!!... The product is always the same. A Zombie! An acceptable kind of zombie. A man without basic human rights, without right to feell all variety of human feelings. A man who is supposed to listen and obey, who has no right to confront, who will be punished with more drugs if he feels bad with drugs they gave him, who will be beaten if he refuses drugs and so on. Neuroscience is interesting. But Neuroscience isusefull to anyone but to drug companies, psychiatrists and all kinds of manipulators

You love your mother but you don't desire to have sex with her. You love your kids but do not desire to have sex with them. You love your dog, but you don't desire to have sex with it. You love a certain pair of shoes or a rose or a certain piece of furniture but again, you don't desire a sexual relationship with any of this stuff. Do understand it now? Do most men not understand these things??? If so, then you must be very lonly.
