This was my first official invite from BMW UK to road test their all new BMW 5 Series G30. I was given the keys to a 2017 530D xDrive for the day in the south of Spain. What a car, go and take one for a test drive!

One of the best car reviews I've watched. Joe I hope you don't lose your enthusiasm as you become more famous and more experienced in this KZfaq review game. It's what makes you unique amongst care reviewers. It's as if you woke up one Christmas morning and was given a gift for a day to drive a dream car, that's how it seems every review and that enthusiasm is infectious. Don't lose it.....well done

Another great video Joe, many company's not just bmw need to start giving you more chances to drive and review there products you give honest reviews that many people enjoy, also I don't know the statistics but I'd put my money on it that you have sold more bmw's to people than 80% of bmw salesmen. I know for a fact you have been a big influence into me buying my m140i and I think many others will agree you did the same for them. Keep up the great work Joe lots of support from me 👍

Thanks Adam! Yeah I would love to get my hands on more cars, not just BMW of course! I sent BMW UK a folder full of emails/youtube messages/Tweets/Instagram messages from people like your good self saying I either influenced them or had a big part in influencing them to buy their new BMW. Hi Joe - my Dad just changed his nicely specced G30 520d M Sport into a very highly specced 530d xDrive - the latter is a beast of a car - it’s amazing how differently they drive!

I be heard a few complaints about X drive. I was impressed with the hill climb. really thought I was going to see slip. totally right about sitting in the seats, and not on them. Nice one Joe. Also glad you put it in sports mode.

I’ve had five 3 series and one 520D - I’ve just bought a 2018 530D and omg it’s out of this world…….the engine alone will make you melt. So folks move from a 3 series to a 5 in my opinion it’s a night and day move……especially if you do a few miles per year.

Joe Achilles Hi Joe, Do you recommend the 520d, enough power? Now i have the 318d f31 143ps, 2 adults and 3 kids this is not normal. First i was going for the 530e but 57000€ standard, i can take for that price almost a full option 520d.. Kind regards Tunc

Fantastic vid as per the norm. I never comment on videos, but I saw you reply to them here so thought I'd bung one in. Your videos really help to see the whole BMW range from an unbiased perspective and I wish the people in my local dealer had as much enthusiasm as you do. Would love to go down the M140 route but sadly can only afford my 116i ATM, but it's still gives me a huge amount of pleasure. Keep making the vids!

Yeah the majority of dealers have zero enthusiasm and close to zero knowledge on the products they sell, you speak to salesmen/women, not car salesmen/women anymore. Thats what's great about BMW, 116 or M140, they both share much DNA and both offer plenty of fun and drivability. Cheers man

What are your thoughts on the Bimmerfest rumours that the new M5 will have xDrive and the ZF 8 speed automatic? I'm ok with the xDrive, but not sure what to think of the automatic.

This is the best review of the new 5 series to date. So refreshing to get that sort of a natural feedback from a drivers point of view Your review succeeded in letting me understand how this car feels from the perspective of a person who has consistent experience with BMWs. Great job! What about the 4 wheel steering ? Did you have it on your test car?

In my dad's Passat, I never used the active cruise control feature until recently when I did a long trip. It is such a joy to use and very relaxing. Only bad thing about it? Getting used to braking again when you go off the motorway haha. It doesn't have the lane assist, which would be nice too. You just need to get used to using it, and trust me, it is weird to have the car braking on it's own.

Yeah I'm familiar with the VW/Audi system, we had one on our Gumball RS6 last year. They work great on low traffic motorways, just the UK traffic makes all these systems panic. And yeah you become reliant on the car braking haha. Cheers man

What a fab review Joe, been looking forward to this since you did the Journey to Spain vid. A cracking car it seems, to be honest it needed updating, it appears they've thrown the kitchen sink at this latest iteration.I'm really surprised more manufacturers don't do more to suppress road/general noise levels as it always has a negative impact on the overall experience, unless of course one is travelling in an out and out sports car! The drag coefficient figure you quoted for this car is quite remarkable, I remember when Audi were boasting about 0.29, things have certainly moved on in this regard. I wonder could this car work for you in your job or do you have to have the extra dimensions offered by the seven? cheers tony

Joe have you driven the updated lci version of the 530d F10 ? I was wondering how does the steering feel and chassis compare with this new G30 ? Everytime i get mine serviced they let me try something modern, 1 2 and 3 series now have very light steering and feedback has been removed. So im very curious about the G30.
