The Victory V140 so good at cranked settings. Feels satisfying to hear the amp giving up on itself. It’s the sound of love.

Another amp to consider is the Bluguitar Amp1. I gig and it even often beats out very nice tube amps in the studio to make it on our MAJIK BAND recordings. It is a fantastic Amp.

Thanks for the video, I must say that V140 just sounds absolutely phenomenal... to my ears there is a significant difference indeed.

I have the V140 (a few weeks now) and I've had the Milkman The Amp 100 for probably a year. First, the 100-watt Milkman has a different character from the 50. It's kinda Deluxe Reverb to Twin Reverb to my ears. As such the 100-watt Milkman I think gets a bit closer to the V140 in that they both have an open and airy quality with a punch that just seems to require the higher wattage. The V140 is definitely superior, but I'm not sure it should be an apples-to-apples comparison. If I view the Milkman as a more pure pedal platform, it's REALLY good, but that also means it's not as good as the V140 at being a plug your guitar straight in and it's enough amp. The V140 has the character and the power and can be a pedal platform amp if you set it that way, but I think that would be missing the point of a 100-watt all-tube head. Different tools for different jobs! The V4 sounds really good as well but not fair for me to judge too much given the hands-on experience with the other two. I definitely do think the 100-watt Milkman is WAY better than the 50-watt version and especially in a head-to-head with the V140. I could play with the 100-watt Milkman into my JBL 1x12 (circa ~1990) and pedals and be just fine, but I'd definitely prefer the V140, unless I have to carry it too much! :)

I am sure that in a mix the small amps would sound great, but I was listening to this without looking and every time I heard a sound go from good to great it was when you switched to the V140.

Really helpful vid. There's a V4 pedal near me for $500 and I was going to take a chance on it but hearing this I'm not a huge fan of it in this shootout. The Milkman sounded pretty damn good and seemed to take the pedal better. Maybe better is the wrong word. More naturally? I don't know. The biggest test would be hearing them in context with a band although I do appreciate that's not something you can feasibly do. I learned my lesson with a Tech 21 modeling amp. Sounded okay in the store by itself but on stage, especially next to an actual tube amp, it was absolutely crushed. Sold it after one gig. I play a vibroking, sometimes with an attenuator, and even though it's 70 gd pounds it sounds so flipping good I haven't bothered to really look at other options.

They all sound AMAZING! I wish I could afford the Dutchess head. That amp sounds perfect for what I want from an amp. Definitely going to save up and try the Dutchess V4 to get in that same ball park at a much more attainable price. Awesome playing and u demonstrated those amps very well

Dig the Milkman, dark and lovely. Duchess was too scooped for my tastes, and I'd probably fiddle too much with the software and get annoyed.

The milkman sounds so much more alive and creamy sweet. I though you must have the gain a little higher on the Milkman compare to the V4. I don't own either but I very much preferred the Milkman tone... I've played an actual Milkman creamer in person and it was reminiscent of that experience... just a real sweetness I really prefer. The V4 sounds good, just a bit more transparent and lacking it's own character as much as the Milkman. That's probably a good thing for trying to get a wide range of tones with different pedals, but if I were doing like Blues and Blues Rock vintage rock tones I'd probably go with the Milkman.

Great video! I have the v40 deluxe, and have been looking for a single channel light weight portable amp for the gigs where you don’t want to take a head and cab. I think the milkman sounds better when paired with the boss cab sim, but the main killer is it doesn’t have a built in cab sim, and no fx loop. I like to run the strymon deco, delay, and modulation pedals through an fx loop on my tube amps and the whole thought process of purchasing an amp like these is to make it so I could grab a very small amp, guitar, board, and load in at the gig in one go. To my ear the milkman sounds more tube amp-like but I’ve already got tube amps that sound more tubey than the milkman. I think I’ll snag a v4 just for the cab sim I could throw in my monitor mix and the fx loop so I wouldn’t need to build another board. I’m also pretty sure in a full band mix I won’t notice too much of a difference, and I’m positive nobody in the audience will notice either lol

Milkman = chime-ier, Duchess = spankier, and the Victory a little less so. Thanks for the demo!

Hello Sasha! I'm a little late here but would be thankful if you could help me with that question: Which one (V4 Duchess // Milkman the Amp) do you think it would be a better pedal platform?? I'm stuck between these two Thanks in advance! Edit: In the video, to me, all the pedals sounded kinda "muddy" with the Milkman (at least compared with the V4), but it could be just a settings thing, am I trippin?

I think duchless v4 should better be considered as a preamp instead of a amp with sweety sounds of electron tube . Although it is called “small duchless v40 ”，the sounds are definitely thinner than the big one. However，the price is equal to its sounds ，that is enough.

I want a mids knob on the Milkman and then id buy one. I tried one out and I need mo mids homie ! :-)

Biggest letdown is, that the Victory V4 sounded very thin and bad witj fuzz :-O. Where Milkman sounded full and awesome
