We take a close look at the new 2025 Toyota 4Runner in TRD Pro, Trailhunter and Limited trims. The 4Runner shares its underpinnings and powertrain with the Tacoma and Land Cruiser, but it still retains some classic 4Runner elements like a sliding rear glass window.
Watch the video to get all the details on the all-new updated 4Runner and let us know what you think of this effort from Toyota in the comments below.

Great video, just subscribed up for the Canadian viewpoints. We have a '16 Tacoma, my son's truck. It is great but I do really feel like Toyota has hit on every single weakness of the previous generations of Tacoma and 4Runners and hit a home run here. I like the rugged style of the TDD Pro and TrailHunters both in truck and SUV forms. More power, more torque, fuel economy improvements, 8 speed transmission, cameras, bells and whistles of modern vehicles, all awesome. Seems to be an easy choice for my next ski SUV as a 4Runner.... other than price. Concerned about sticker shock and despise greedy dealer markup on top of that. I am in the early line up for 4runner and will see how that goes; might hold off a bit and let some new generation bugs get worked out before I buy.

Theres many people out there steering clear of the 4cyl trucks as it is, and I am steering clear of even the new turbo 4cyl 4runner. They are trying to condition us to bring the turbo back as something drastic and New that it will be just as reliable. NOOOOOOOOO THANK YOU!! I think Toyota did a great job with the looks and kept a lot of features known with previous loved versions of the 4runner. Happy to see a auto 4wd drive option for inclement weather conditions on the pavement. I'm really surprised at this point all manufacturers that offer awd regardless truck, van or car, it should be able to use on all road conditions unlike part time 4wd systems. Even trucks have this great feature and it should just be standard across the board. Love the rear lifegate sliding window. All SUV's should have this ability, at least a liftgate window opening. I don't like when manufacturers like, Nissan or Dodge where there big back liftgate glass doesn't open. Even Toyota chose to ditch that idea on the new Highlander. But I digress. I'm sure these 4runners will sell well, even at $60k 😮

You are correct, and that is the expectation as well. However, there are way more similarities than I had expected in size and specs, especially in the upper trim levels. The only significant difference in dimensions is the LC is about 6 inches taller despite identical ground clearance. So, Roomier, I hope meaning more comfortable. But I bet there's a ton of price overlap between 4Runner and LC with 4Runner beating LC on some features (3rd row). That seems weird to me. Cheers gents!

This has already been an issue with the 4-cylinder pick ups out there that most are steering clear of. Especially the chevy ones. These people think Toyota has the magic wand of everything being reliable, which I am 100% sure that the quality is not the same. To think about the quality is the same whereas everything else have been going downhill in terms of quality is gullible to say the least! We just have to sit back, watch and tell them WE told you so!!

Such a disappointment that the most off road versions don’t have AWD switch. No way I’m spending that much money on trail hunter or trd pro and it doesn’t have AWD for snow and ice. How in the world they can make those models without it is ludicrous. It is by far one of the most handy features on an off road vehicle today. Then they offer it on the high end models you DONT want to take off road with street rims and no mts or sway bar disconnects. Ridiculous.

I think the reliability of the 4 liter is better. You won't get 20 years out of a 4runner with these new engines or technology

@@jdt1935a lot of exporting production to Mexico and the addition of more complicated systems into the engine like turbos. Toyota is following that Ford tract lol

@@BeanTownBurrs4Runner still to be built in Japan. But, you may be correct in terms of as a relates to the engine, since there have been some people complaining about the turbo on the Tacoma, running flat out at high speeds, and running hot. that is not something that can have a duration of years of use without failure at some point

Thank God they didn't cave in and ruin it. Personally don't dig the added complexity, and I'm sure cost, but it should be a hit!
