EQS battery will outlast S-Class transmission. As time goes on their will be shops that will fix/remanufacture battery packs instead of replacing at dealer.

I bought a 2015 S550 in 2017 for less than 50% of its MSRP. 120K MSRP for 50K. Only had to replace 1 auxilary battery for $150 and a few oil changes. It has been a great car and they truly are a very fine car. By a lease return is the only way to buy one IMO. You get a better than new warranty when you do it this way.

A battery pack should last 10-15 years before replacement, so, no, your kid will probably not inherit this car in 20 years unless you are willing to spend more than the car will be worth for a battery swap. It will, however, not require almost any powertrain maintenance, ever. The electronic doodads in the EQS mirror those in the new ICE versions of the S and GLS class (aside from the screens) and will be as troublesome (or not) as the regular ICE vehicles. My E43 has the first iteration of dual screen controls (predating MBUX) and has been 100% reliable for 5 years. My 2021 GLS 580 has essentially the same MBUX system as the EQS and has up to now (30,000 miles) been also absolutely reliable. Aside from my previous C400 which had a few, noncritical, teething issues, my latest 3 MB's have had exactly zero reliability problems, as good if not better than my previous (numerous) Honda vehicles. I know that's a whopping sample population of one, but its what I can attest to. The fact is that cars have become ridiculously reliable if you compare them to cars from the late 20th century.

I agree with you you should be allowed to go in your own car. I have an electric car only thing I need to add is some windshield wiper fluid but that is under the hood of my car so yes give the customer the access to the car and of course people are not stupid they know not to touch high voltage electric lines. If they want to live

There has been a video posted by TFLEV about how to open the hood. There is a hood release covered by a hatch secured by a screw under the left part of the dash. Just remove the screw and the cover and you pull the lever to open the hood. There are a bunch of screens under there that should be cleaned of leaves and other debris occasionally.

Lease ends up costing more than buying it. For example, I bought my EQS450+ for $111,617 out the door including everything. For leasing, they told me if i put $10k down payment my total lease for 36 months would be $73,604. So i would be paying 83,604 including the down payment and they said if I want to buy the car after the lease, it would be $51,336 So in summary, I would be paying over $134,000 for a car that costs 111,617 with tax and everything.

The exterior is Fugly as hell. It doesn’t have no where near the storage as it’s competitors. The sound effects are corny and probably interferes with music playing in the vehicle. Saw one on the freeway and is has no presence. A funny looking light bar runs across the front at night. This is an easy pass Mercedes really screwed this one up. The exterior needs to be completely redone. Give us something exciting to look at.

@@carholic-sz3qv being impressed is highly subjective. You can be impressed by a longer tie rod, I can be impressed by elegant, simple and long lasting design. That doesn’t make either of us wrong. The 4th generation and up were electronically controlled. 3rd generation was mechanical and arguably better because of its simplicity. Tesla turned the once regal and classy luxury model S into a Zoom-Zoom-fast Dodge Challenger wanna-be with more speed, black accent trim, ugly black wheels and an airplane yoke... WTF???. Mercedes has just filled the gap with the EQS. I'm a former Tesla owner now. I traded it for a 450+. 418 mile range at 100% charge and plenty fast too. Great looking car... The driver lane assist distronic extended restart in stop and go traffic (auto pilot) is better than Tesla in some ways... Very impressed so far. And it even came with a steering wheel! This is a car for grown-ups who want every possible creature comfort, class, quiet cabin, great build quality, long battery range with brick and mortar dealerships in every town... And ALL configurations are the same and/or much less money than a Plaid....

I think all this freting over the unopenable hood is a bit much. There have always been "unserviceable" parts on modern cars. There's nothing of use under the hood here, and it *is* openable if an owner really wants to. Did MB really need to take the extra step and making access more difficult and warning against it, no, but at the same time it's really not that big a deal.

I loath vehicles with low profile tires. What's the plus side of them, handling? Get too close to curbs and they're destroyed. Firm ride. Why would you have them, looks maybe? Now Formula 1 gas gone more this direction to cater for people who like the looks. They're no good either. I'm open to being corrected. Merc has done a good job with suspension. 4 wheel steer is something to go wrong like the Skyline GTR. (personal experience) I sound like a grumpy old fart. Trucks are better.

Because they’ve been convinced that showing you care about other people means you’re weak or living in fear (even though they refuse to even leave the house without a loaded high power weapon on them). That would be like watching a video on a Mercedes S Class and saying ICE cars are too expensive. There are cheaper EVs than this luxury model. Carmax has used EVs for $10-15,000 and they take payments. If you can afford a car you can afford an EV. Especially since electricity is so much cheaper than gas and oil changes are.
