Always warms my heart to see things that are just standard and moddable. Never a huge fan of soldered-on stepper drivers, but I suppose mods like dual extrusion would require a new board anyways - and since it's Klipper, that might not even involve removing the old board at all, if the SBC can handle multiple microcontrollers.

an interesting idea, adding a daughterboard for the drivers...would be interesting to see where that went, the mks SBC would presumably support it, the board is close to the qidi one that has a usb toolhead with rpi 2040...

I ordered one. $299 is not a bad deal for a Klipper Printer. I paid $270 for my SV06 and a $169 Sonic Pad to Klipper it. I have been pretty happy with its performance and am actually looking forward to another cheap printer. I Klipperized my SV06 Plus and it's even better than it was with Marlin. One thing that is still true (as with the SV06) is that the all-metal hot end allows nozzle temps to be lower for any given material. I now print IIID Max PETG at 195C and PLA+ at 180C - well below the mfg recommended temps of 190C and 210C - with success across the board.

Does IIID Max recommend lower temps for PETG? Just wondering because most PETG brands recommend 230 to 250C. The PLA+ temps seem completely reasonable while still lower than normal but that PETG temp seems very low but if it works and gives the best results that's nice.

One thing that your videos could improve a bit on is to go more in detail on the cube (which is awesome, by the way, thanks for that). A detailed exploration of all features of the cube can wrap in a nutshell most, if not all, key performance and quality capabilities of the printer. Also allows to explore where it falls short. This would allow the viewer to anticipate what upgrades he should expect towards his use case, when acquiring the printer. Great work by the way. So far, My biggest reasons not to jump to Klipper have been - Marlin is *fine*, and with recent additions of LA and IS with standalone 2208 it's quite enough _1)_ (fixed-time motion could be another step forward) - having unused unusable screen on printer (DWIN color screen -> can't home or heat up for filament change) and all control is "elsewhere" _2)_ - Raspberry Pi is hard to get & expensive, clones not much better (we are running OctoPrint on old PC, so we are _sort of modern_ :D ) - installation and configuration seems like a lot of work Makerbase MKS + screen looks promising by having Klipper, screen and control in single unit, *bolted to the printer*, replacing original display. Maybe there could be a video about converting Ender 3 (or V2 or some clone) to MKS Klipperscreen? *_1)_* for poor slow MK8 hotend, with slow print speed and 1h+ Benchy. Fortunately it's quite easy to swap to bi-metal heatbreak, Volcano heat block and nozzle - but new part cooling duct (and raiser (lowerer ?) for ABL) needs to be printed in advance ;) *_2)_* the printer easily becomes non-portable

Screens is usable on some printers. For example on sv06 it is. Raspberry pi is overhyped s..t. Pick and alternative like orange pi or something. I'll just say, as for the build quality of my SV06: I had to rebuild it completely from scratch, as only one aluminium extrusion frame piece was actually square and perpendicular. The rest were not, leading to the x gantry being twisted. The only way I'm able to counteract this now is using a manual bed mesh (all auto bed leveling algorithms don't work, I tried to fix it for a few days.) So, if you're fine with taking a few hours to rebuild your printer after you got it, Sovol machines are a good value, I guess. Maybe if you're a reviewer (or just lucky), you won't have such problems (my issues weren't an isolated case though, on sovol groups this was a common occurence).

Maintenance and reliability, are you going to do a follow-up review in a few months time with thing like how many hours use this printer has had along with what you have had to do to keep it running. I find with these cheaper printers they work great for a few weeks, then you spend more time diagnosing, waiting for parts to arrive (if you can get them that is) and fixing them than you do printing.

qidi has every leg over sovol here if you ask me at this price point comparing to the x smart 3, qidi has some of the best support in the game where as sovol has some of the worst haha

The problem with the x smart 3 is the build size. Its tiny. The build volume is not very big already on the SV07 but the x smart 3 is 40mm even smaller.

same size as the kp3s, but yeah significantly smaller than the ender size printers.

Sovol: "QA? Whats that? Customer Service? What do you mean?" Sovol is not known for that. My SV01 pro had a dead cooling fan, loose screws for all bed wheels. Disconnected wires at the motherboard and PID out of whack. This is my first printer so it took me close to a month to fully dial in and diagnose my machine. Based on the above and this video comment on customer service and QA, i will NOT be buying the SV07, or any other Sovol product in the foreseeable future

Not much of a review, sounds like you read off the marketing pr release, that's unfortunate. Was hoping for an actual in-depth review... But yeah I still don't see why you would buy this over the SV06+ It's definitely a swing and miss on Sovol part. This would have been great 6 months ago but not now. It's like two steps back one step forward, they should have released a Klipper version of the Sovol SV06 and SV06+ instead of wasting R&D on this...

I realise it's fashionable to arbitrarily belittle other peoples' hard work, what is truly "unfortunate" is that you couldn't verbalise what you feel is missing from the review. That would at least have been useful.
