I've said it before and I'll say it again. GA-2100 was a miracle from design sense for Casio. It had G-Shock roots (5600 lugs and strap) but also beautiful like a classic analog watch. It was like a lightning in a bottle. GA-B001 or this GA-2300 just can't cut it. Those are their own things. While Casioak is GA-2100.

The ga-2300 looks like a toy watch. I got caught up in the hype and got a ga-b2100 but felt a bit disappointed by it. I think I waited too long to get one and was already casioaked out by then. The ga-b001 though... I would throw money at casio when they give it a solar charger.

I agree. This one looks out of proportion. The lugs are so big compared to the tiny watch face. Looks like a toy watch

I like the simplicity of these and surprisingly the gray looks really nice. At first I thought it might be too light of a tone, but definitely looks good.

The negative display is a complete deal breaker. Great use of colours though. Thank you. Love your review style. I like that you focus on the watch with no extraneous bullshit. 👍🙏

Just a random point, i so wish Casio would put an alarm beep at the end of the timer, it would be so good to get an audio alert to know the timer had ended, it would be so handy.

Having initially seen it when you revealed a week or 2 ago I wasn’t keen but now seeing a moving video which is so much better than just photos I do actually quite like it, love the size, I reckon I might get one in the black, thanks for the vid 👍🏻

The first eye magnet is the big "X"!!! That's not what you need when you glance down to see what time it is. The hour indicies and chapter ring look like broken teeth..

The first time I saw it I thought "o no, that's ugly". And the large X on the dial disturbed me. But after a while and the more I look at it I think I like it. And I like Casio dare to try something new!

Exactly. 'Watch people' don't ever seem to realise how annoying it is to have smaller wrists when every watch company out there is pushing 50mm lug to lugs, a round G-Shock this size is a godsend. If only citizen would do the same.

Listen, this is exactly what I want, smaller, light and swappable/more conventional bracelet. But guess what, they’re gonna release a tough solar version. So I’m gonna wait it out.

I think there's a subtle shift in the wider design language going on at G-Shock at the moment - check out the new Gravitymaster and BDG-1K. The Gravitymaster has a similar aesthetic around the bezel protection, and the BDG has a similar deliberately retro-futuristic feel to it.

@@zachvalue well no, like all Gs, the design has all subtlety of a fire at a petrol station... but I think the overall direction of design is subtly changing across the whole catalogue, gradually with each new design, excluding reworks of existing stuff. They're getting smaller - this one, the GST-B600, and the BDGs. They're getting a lot more pastel. They're adding polished/faceted touches to the face. Etc etc

Very cool dial design. The massive lugs sticking out looks ridiculous! Ohhh...if only Casio would get in to tritium in their watches. So many cool G-shock watches out there but are SO SO dang difficult to read!

Yep, I saw them last week when they were launched. Love the grey one but, happy to wait for it to be upgraded with solar and BT. Might get a positive display with other colours.

This GA-2300 is too ugly and too flat to be the new casioak. Worst it looks like a ladies watch! Casio is in a conundrum; the Casioak watch is unbeatable, I own 4 of them and planing to get my fifth, a metal one (GMB2100BPC1A?) soon. So these sequential new models are not doing much for Casio, maybe they should forget about it and embrace the Oak for the rest of the century.
