Thank you for demonstrating the power draw with and without the Coleman mach and microAir soft starts. We have a 3000w Victron inverter with 600AH lithium. Ran the microAir soft start on our previous AC jwhic just lost refrigerant. I put the new Mach 10 iin and I decided to go with Coleman. The comparison between the two different soft starts was what I was interested in. We had no problems running our AC for three and four hours with the micro air. So You inspired confidence so I went ahead and purchased a Coleman and am installing it tomorrow. Looking forward to similar results of as you.

Thanks for the video. Convinced me to buy the Coleman Mach product. Installation went smooth, the Coleman instructions made it easy with clear directions. Only downside was my local RV dealer took me to the cleaners on the price. Should have bought online.

@@EICOPhotography I do find buying anything from RV dealers is usually way over priced. Amazon seems the best way to go, but I have learned researching all options is the way to go.

Thanks! Just did the install on my unit without any issues. I was half way through when I realized I was doing it from memory after watching your video and probably should at least glance at the instruction manual. Some of the best instructional videos seem to come from Canadians. (But then I'm slightly biased)

I never even new these things existed until after we sold our home and moved into the RV. I likely would have used them at home as well.

Definitely agree. They save the huge surge of power on equipment and extend the life of the AC units.

Gary, good job. I can see that a Coleman A/C is a much different layout than a Dometic A/C. I still have the RV shop put mine in when they replaced the A/Cs.

I only have 220 watts of solar and a 120v refrigerator in my Montana fifth wheel. The solar/inverter package only feeds a few outlets. I'd like your opinion, Do you think that if I install the soft starts on my two Coleman Mach 15000 ac units, how much generator would it take to safely run the ac units and refrigerator? I'm thinking a 3500 watt inverter generator would do We installed a Micro Air soft start on our 5 ton home AC and it starts on 28-30 amps and runs on 10-12 amps, a vast improvement from no soft start. Thanks for the video's and you have a new subscriber!

Allthough I can not say for sure, 3500 should do it. It is when both start up at the same time the major draw hits. Even with soft starts. Do you really need two AC units. We seem to get by on one most of the time.

I guess that the soft start is a smart start. It tried and failed the first time and re ajuste it's self the second time but ran beautifully.

They are self learning. I even noticed when doing some serious power tests if everything kicks out they start differently the next time.

Hello Gary. Great videos (Part 1&2). How many watts can you put in your batteries from your engine running while driving (from the alternator)?

Thanks for the positive comments. The batteries are charged by solar, shore power or the generator. I have not yet added a DC to DC convertor to be able to charge from the alternator as well. I don't know what the max amps of the alternator is but I am sure it is more than enough for a 30 to 50 amp converter. Believe me I have been looking at them lol.

How are you monitoring your batteries and usage? Is your inverter hardwired to your batteries? I am newer to the RV world . I like your ser up and interested in simular for my rig.

I have a Coleman Mach unit on my travel trailer. There is a hard "thud" every time the compressor kicks on. It's done this since it was new, and I'm told it is normal. It actually wakes me up sometimes when I'm sleeping. Will this soft start help to minimize this issue?

I can't guarantee it, but the fact that it starts up more gently with the soft start may help. I would buy it from Amazon as you can return it if it doesn.t work for you.

470 amp....wow that's a lot of current, how big a bank do you have?

Yes it is a heavy draw and I don't normally do that. I was just trying to show a hard test. The batteries can handle it though. I have 8 100 AH LifePO4 batteries that the max draw is 100 amps each. I'm sure if I did an 800 amp draw things would get pretty hot, pretty quick.

Hmm, I think I may have mentioned I have soft starts on all our AC units, not sure I mentioned the front one was a Coleman Mach soft start and the other two are micro-air easy starts. But we have them.
