The kingdom management was why this is still my favorite pf1e AP, I know not everyone likes doing stuff like that, but building and naming my own city and watching it grow to eventually take over an entire hex was great.

I played the video game first, now I'm running a Kingmaker game in 5e based on the original APs, with video game and my own content thrown in. A month or so after the game started I saw they were doing this remake. It's a great adventure whichever system you play, especially if you're a GM who likes to see a story emerge and give freedom to your players. Campaign should still be going when I get this, I'd love upated kingdom rules and see how they handle warfare

I’m a relatively new convert to PF2e from D&D5e for largely the same reasons Fathpinders notes in their video about changing systems. This video has 100% clarified for me that I really want to get Kingmaker and utilize it in my homebrew world. Thanks for always making such valuable, clarifying content

I didn't play this in PF1, but did play the CRPG from beginning to end and really enjoyed it (kingdom management aspects aside). I'm pretty hyped for this remastered AP.

I had no idea this was coming, maybe I can finally get my table to take another stab at PF2e. The CRPG is absolutely amazing (once Owlcat got most of the bugs worked out)

Kingmaker settlement rules on Archives of Nethys really helped a lot when I was world building a city for my homebrew and had questions the GM Core really didn't help with.

I ran the 1e version; and about gearing up to start running the 2e one shortly. My first impressions were extremely positive, but its becoming more tempered as I dig into my prep. The camping rules in particular have me very worried, when they take a daily random encounter rate and use it as a n hourly/per watch rate, it feels likely to really bog things down, even with the sidebar advice to limit it to one random encounter per night. Feels like they thought some of the cooking bonuses/other camping activity bonuses are too good unless you offset by so many random encounters, and that feels like an unsatisfying balance to me. The new prologue looks very well adapted -- took some strengths from the computer game, but changed them around enough for the TTRPG medium. I haven't been as impressed with the other CRPG chapter conversions, nor with the the scope of improvements to the original 6 chapters -- felt like they could have gone further with the lessens learned/GM feedback over the decade. The companions all feel very well done (like the prologue) -- strong conversions of the CRPG content into a new medium that works well without pully the party away from their own things too often. And I really wish chapter 2 was its own book. You'll be cross referencing it, along with a story chapter a lot of the time and that would have been easier as two volumes.

As someone who has slowly been watching more PF2 content with the intention to start playing the system this adventure path looks like a lot of fun. And since it appears to work for both 5e and PF2 it might be a good jumping on point for some of my friends too

I can't believe I hadn't considered switchable stables of characters as a selling point for this AP before. I know more than a few people who have more characters than they ever hope to run; this would be a great selling point to them playing Kingmaker.

As a backer I already have my books and PDFs. I think the presentation is great, and I will definitely consider running this for my group after we finish Age of Ashes.

Every video I watch makes me think about how great it must be to have Rules Lawyer as a GM. ☺

This seems like a great adventure for play by post, handling the kingdom between virtual or in-person sessions.

I’m currently playing through the crpg and damn I would LOOOOVE to be able to play/GM this.

Can't wait to run this with my group. Ran the 1e version and had a great time- loads of homebrewed bits and pieces, and ultimately a great time over a couple years. Very excited to play it with the new system and to see this fab AP getting the fresh revamp.

Thanks Ronald, looking forward to part 2! I'm currently DMing a pf2e handmade conversion of the original kingmaker module: I couldn't wait for the official 10 years version to be published. We are currently halfway through book 2. Converting everything is a huge job, but I'm very happy with the result. The videos will be useful to understand what to do when the book gets out (I really need the kingdom and warfare rules...).

I remember when we started playing this path a few years ago in the 6th or 7th session we encountered a group of 5 or 6 trolls nearly at sunset, which quiet the shock, because we were only level 3 with our group of 5 players. As we ran away the bard fails his skill check for steering the wagon. So the 3 players on the wagon go off in the darkness while no one of them can see in the dark and they are afraid of making light because of being spotted by the trolls. It took us 3 hours of real time( the GM hat us leaf the room 30min at a time) for our group to find back together.

I like Kingdom building lol. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I am really excited to pick this up. Going to cost an arm and a leg I bet lol.

This was fantastic! I've just started learning about PF2e (thanks OGL debacle), and wondering which PF CRPG I should play first. This seals the deal for Kingmaker. I can also see wanting this AP for all the new rules as I learn more about the TTRPG. Feels like there are a lot of new storytelling tools.

I loved the CRPG of this, and was excited to hear about its re-release as I want to try 2e and having some familiar things to hold onto will help me adjust. I'm not sure my group will like this, but I might get enough out of just reading the books to make it worthwhile.

I want to run a homebrew hexcrawl / kingdom building P2E campaign at some point, so it sounds like I should pick this up when it hits retail.

I really like this in-depth review. I always liked the original adventures and the video game was excellent and is one of my most favorite crpgs of all time. It's good to learn that this version of the adventure is possibly exactly the kind of thing that I'm looking for in my next campaign.

Question if you see this, I am really interested in the camping rules but play 5th ed, are they neutral enough to use in a dnd game or would it take some work to change it over seamlessly?

In Kingmaker 1st edition we leveled up to level 6 then switched to Slow exp... since we were doing a lot of ''side quest'' and personal questing not related to the main story...

when I backed the Kickstarter I wnated to run it for 5e but I think I will use the 5e monsters to convert them to dungeon crawl classics (5e is easy converted to osr unlike pathfinder monsters)

We been playing 1st edition of this module but DM made mistake he wanted to try out Mythic and running the game as in the original heroes didn't win against the big baddie in the module and the gods couldn't let this happen and had the Inevitable rewind time and give us a divine spark to ensure we do.

I am DMing KM for pf2, converting things on my own, and using the Ultimate Campaign rules for kingdom and warfare. We are at the end of module 3. The central plots are good, but a Lot of the quests make no sense as the group become rules of a big kingdom. Also there is almost no political intrigues and negotiations, which ia a bunmer. I feel the kingdom rules are breaking up as the game progresses, because all the kingdom tests became super easy and there is no tension. In resume, It is an interesting Campaign, with a lot of good oportunities for creative DMs with time to spare, but with a lot of problems on its subsystems. I hope they have fixed those issues and delivered a more polished product this time

As someone who has never played pathfinder and only recently heavily invested in D&D (core set and expansion set), is Kingmaker plus the bestiary 5e right for me? Or is it better to just get the PF2e core book and Kingmaker and go with that, is the 5e conversion really good enough or am I going to have difficulty as a new D&D dm?

From what I understand the AP book and the Companion Guide are needed, but do those two things come with everything needed (Like a gm screen and I thought I saw something about having paper mini's as well).

It funny. With the Video Game. I wanted more of the Kingmaker stuff and less of the leaving the kingdom to go kill stuff. I wanted the Kingdom management to be real kingdom management. Not 10% Kingmaker and 90% Generic Pathfinder game. I say generic pathfinder game as all pathfinder games. Have you traveling around the map. Killing enemies and leveling up. You know the whole kingdom management was the unique part of Kingmaker story. Yet that was so bad. Cause there was nothing to do. Just build buildings and put npc on task. There was like nothing else in the game. I could not build an army. I could not do celebration. I could not run a kingdom. Cause the pc game was focus on being just a standard Pathfinder game. Which at that point owlbear should have just done another game.

I don't know much about 2e... How do DCs on skill checks compare to PF1? I'm wanting to use the anniversary edition for pf1 and the bestiary isn't a full conversion unfortunately.

It was my favorite adventure of Pathfinder 1e... The videogame SUCKED HARD! It gutted all the history elements and gave a ilusion of choice with less choices than Baldur's Gate 1, and also 0 replayability. If they dont shoehorn the story like the videogame did, it can be a great re-release.

Looting ideas from it, and the map, for my next huge campaign. 🏕 Will also be inserting early D&D and AD&D adventures. Played it years ago at the table and on steam, so won't be giving more money to paizo. Sorry dudes, but I was there when you started censorship on Christians objecting to wokeness.
