Don't want to defend this bad movie, but animated movies generally recast stars for ordinary voice actors to cut costs. Unlike other animated movies that just hire random A-listers for name recognition, Will Ferrel is a really good voice.

@@mocapcow2933 Here’s the thing. I think it’s also because Will is doing another movie set within another Universal animation studio. That film being *Despicable Me 4,* where he’s playing the villain. So in a way, he left the role of one (technically not) villain to play another villain set within the same company.

Imo the best plot for a sequel would be Megamind struggling to be a hero. He's so used to being on the other side that he has no idea how to do it. After the Titan incident he finds out why Metro Man got so bored and tired, and keeping expectations up is beyond difficult as well as balancing his relationship with Roxanne. For a villain I'd choose a parody of Brainiac who is responsible for destroying Metro Man and Megamind's planets. This wouldn't be revealed until the last third of the movie. I'd have this villain be a genius like Megamind but on a whole other level, who tries to tempt and persuade megamind to join him and be evil again since he admires megaminds intellect. I'd also have Metro Man come out of retirement for one last adventure and team up with megamind to defeat the villain.

Make metro man’s species come back and be a lot like the viltrumites in invincible make megamind have to get help from both metro man and Hal (since he’s the only person who was trained to use metro man’s abilities) and give Roxann the powers too in order to fight metro man’s people. There’d be a chance for Hal to learn to be an actual good person along the way showing anyone can choose to be good keeping themes from the previous movie.

Its weird how his character in the fiest was that he was lonely and has no one except the fish guy. And in this they give him a goofy group of villians thst he used to know. And wouldnt the defeat of tighten and the metroman fake dead be big news in the city and far areas, how do the new villians not know why wont megamind just tell them to go with metroman too maybe. I know this is a kids movie but the makers must of never seen the full movie. Megamind is one of my favorite movies that never needed a sequel because the first ended everyones stories.

Day 35: To be fair the ending of the original movie did kind of set him up to be the good guy. Besides that it's all down hill from here. First of all the tennis balls decided to play Minecraft and magically spawn in. Secondly the animation is quite a bit worse and his eyebrows were out of place. Sonic was originally bad and ended up getting a lot better so hopefully it will be the same case for this one.

@@Saverino_ In my opinion they messed up what they had going. They ended the movie with him being the good guy, they made a short about him being a good guy, and they even made games about him being a good guy. The game part is questionable but its an interaction able adventure so I guess its fine but they just ruined it with this movie. The best I can hope for is a 6.5/10 movie where they carry the strengths of the old movie and due to them stretching it to fit the run time of the movie its going to end up being mid. I think the best that they can hope for is being entertainment fun by its own but when considering its past it will end up being mid.

I really don't think you're nitpicking on something that makes a HUGE plothole due to the original's storyline. That's a huge fact, Megamind not being a part of a villian group. Megamind didn't have any friends whatsoever, that's why when he got into a fight with minion and could no longer hang around Roxanne it hit him hard. That's what his whole deal was, him not belonging anywhere. If he did belong somewhere, I doubt that he would've been so down about Metroman's retirement, because that pseudo-toxic relationship was one of the few things he had.

I always dreamed about a Megamind Sequel for 14 Years, sure it was cautious when I heard it was a TV Series but Last Wish and The Croods a New Age gave me Hope for more Dreamworks Sequel but this isn’t what I wanted, this just feels like they massacred me Blue Boy and my All Time Favorite Movie like 2 Birds in One Stone, these are Darker Times My Friends, Plus this also looks like they took Notes from the Incredibles and Despicable Me, I’m just hoping this was Intentional and Does have Clever Writing.

Honestly so glad Will Ferrell didn’t agree. Might be a reason for the clear lack of care being put in to make it a quality movie but the fact that it’s only going on peacock just seems like a greedy out of touch producer decided to fart this out for some quick cash. Likely only being made to honor a partnership with peacock.

Everything about Doom Syndicate looks awful. Not even including the fact it makes no sense, the Doom Syndicate themselves look terrible. We got a reject Captain Planet villain, the Thing's discount cousin, a mime, and a reject Overlord game protagonist.

A big part of Megaminds backstory is lack of friends he's socially awkward and can't pronounce words due to this it wouldn't make sense retroactively Giving him a crew 2. The whole thing is there are 2 aliens, 2 people with super powers, 2 people who landed on this earth after escaping a black hole having more people with super powers completely fricks it up

yeah i almost cried when i saw this, i knew any sequel was gonna be like this when i revisited megamind a year ago and honestly really didn't want there to be a sequel. seems similar to what happened to wreck it ralph with the god-awful sequel
