omg thank GOD someone speaks our frustration on the pacing of the show and also how deliberately deviate from the idea that every Godly encounter is a mystery seeking who are they fighting and using strategies based on the stories on those Gods or monsters

I disagree! I think the fun of their encounters with gods or monsters in the show comes from the fact that even though they know who they are, they don't know how to beat them. I agree in the sense that the mystery was lost, which is kind of sucky, but I don't think that made it frustrating or predictable. It actually adds a fun twist to the idea of knowing something/someone but not knowing how to deal with it. It also adds to the show-not-tell aspect by portraying how intelligent and quick-thinking the characters are, especially when they beat monsters like Medusa or Crusty (although the Crusty scene is one of the weakest in the show).

I read the first book as a kid before I really got into reading but the book always stuck with me. When this came out me and my cousins got really excited we had a whole watch party and everything. They were definitely more excited than I was but I love the show regardless. I think it really expanded the books and I am kinda glad that I didn’t completely copy them cause I got to still be surprised and guessing. I never read after the first book but now since my love of books have grown I have to give the rest of the series a chance. Half way through the second one but can’t wait to love this series even more.

I love the show sm, I understand that there are areas for improvement but they still did really in some aspects (esp casting!!). I’ve been a fan of pjo for a while and I reread the books (esp TLT and SON) at least once a year so there were a lot of details I wish they could have included. I agree w ur thoughts esp about the pacing but I feel like they are still trying to find the best way to shorten the story since they were given v limited number of episodes, however I feel like they should have went with the original underworld entrance, because the whole point of crusty scene was the trap but since they didn’t include it, it would have been better for them to do the recording store scene w charon. I also think they should have not made them know who the monsters are immediately because it removes the tension. Anw,,, WE NEED SEASON 2 ASAP

Hi, I genuinely don't understand how those points are bad? I've seen a lot of people complain about the fact that they know too much, but I don't get it. These kids grew up listening to and studying the stories of Greek gods; they should know all these stories like the back of their hand. What makes it fun is the fact that they know the monsters/gods, but still need to figure out how to defeat or outsmart them. To me, this shows their intelligence way more than saying, "Oh yeah, Annabeth is really smart." Plus, although this is a fantasy story - it takes place on Earth, not Hogwarts, so the realism aspect makes complete sense to me. Also since this takes place on earth with real-life monuments, plotholes like the river being directly under the arch NEED to be changed (this would be completely different if it were a fantasy world). As I said, I am genuinely curious as to why you think these were bad; while they sadly did reduce the mystery, I feel they didn't ruin the overall story the show portrayed.
@sunnivar.jacobsen7872
@sunnivar.jacobsen7872 6 ай бұрын
@@adriannep3547 Oh no I do not think that it ruined the story! Just said my opinion on how I feel like it would be better. I absolutely understand that it makes sense that they knew more than in the books because of thei training and upbringing, but that was what I meant about "plotholes"! Just that the suspension and mystery with not knowing from the books were lacking, and I felt like I would rather have it not make completely sense that they do not know everything, that it to be less suspenseful because they are "too" smart. If that makes sense? But I do love the series, and it gave the books more justice than the movies!! Hope you have a great day

I totally agree that the show's tone was way to serious especially when the books are so funny and quirky. I hope they tone down the seriousness for season two and let the jokes and humour through cause that was the charme of the books

I'm glad the luke fight was the true climax. There's no way imo to make the Ares fight longer and believable both because it's a child vs a giant wrestler and because it's a barely trained demigod against the literal god of war. Percy had one shot, the longer it went the longer it is rediculous ares hadn't already killed him. Given all that I actually really liked it, I thought it captured how talented but reckless percy, is without completely neutering Ares' character. Totally understand it being underwhelming though and yea im very glad we had the amazing Luke and percy fight against the backdrop of celebration as our climax, especially with the training flashbacks during the ares fight
@adriannep3547
@adriannep3547 6 ай бұрын
I completely agree, which is why I find it weird that people want longer fight scenes. If it had gone on longer, it would've made the scenes less believable. Percy is a talented swordfighter, but he only became a demigod about a week ago lol (skill and experience are both crucial to becoming a GREAT swordfighter). Fighting against Clarrise is one thing, but a chimera and the god of WAR??? The reason he lasted so long was bc of his talent, but without that, he would've died in SECONDS -- so i think the scenes are long enough. Also, they feel longer in the books because we have Percy's inner dialogue, but if we take that out - the scenes aren't as long as you think...
@adriannep3547
@adriannep3547 6 ай бұрын
I'm also glad the fight with Luke was the climax, which makes the most sense. This whole thing started with the mystery of who stole the lightning bolt, so the true high point of the show should be confronting the lightning thief - this is what the show was leading to, not the fight with Ares. Plus, the context of the fight with Ares has changed compared to the books; it's less out of desperation to finish the quest in time, and more of "you give me what I want (the helm), and I'll leave you alone." The fight still felt suspenseful enough (especially since it wasn't the most important part of the episode), it was well-choreographed and filmed!

Finally, someone said it, it might look easy to pull it off in a book, but on-screen people won't even believe that Walker can hold his own against The Edge. I think the gradual learning and rise in power was the perfect way to do it as it is a literal 12 year old.

i'm almost 23 and i read the books when i was 11(after watching the movie lol) so honestly this series for me is like a dream come true!!! i agree with a lot of things ypu said in the end and i've seen a lot of criticism from old fans about the series that, while i agree with some, most just seem bitter to me since they didn't stick a 100% to what was in the book. while, yes, i would have loved to see some scenes like the one with the animals, annabeth's encounter with spiders etc i can still get (maybe bc i'm a film major) that not everything translates well too the visual media and honestly, it's disney, changes were going to be made esp. considering the target audience. but one of the things i want to see more in the next seasons is definetly more of humor from the books (esp since we know that the story only gets darker from here) and less cgi!! in the documentary they show that they filmed most things like 99% of the show in a volume stage and. ifeel like that's why the world feels so flat. anyway, overall i loved the show and i'm super excited to the next season, i'm so attatched to the kids alread 🥺

There were some pacing issues, some of the changes were more of a detriment than a benefit to the story(Lotus hotel and Crusty's come to mind), and The Celestial Trio figured things out a little *too* often imo. @@CiaraGan I personally feel like the fact that they knew the monster didn't take away the fun of the episodes! 1) They technically should know all the stories since they grew up on and studied these gods and monsters; it's actually a bit weirder that they don't know them in the books, but I never thought too much about that when reading. 2) It adds to the show, not tell aspect. It wouldn't mean anything if characters only called Annabeth smart and a quick thinker without showing anything. I think this is portrayed very well, especially in the Medusa episode 3) Although the mystery is lost, which is a downside, I feel like the fun comes from the fact that they know who the monsters/gods are but don't know how to deal with them. They knew about the lotus flowers but still got trapped in the casino, They knew about Medusa but still trusted her for a bit and had to be quick-witted when finding a way to defeat her, ETC.

For me I think the biggest issue they had adapting was shifting from a first person narrative in the book to a third person one in the show. So much of the books is inside percys head. That's why I think they struggled to show us Percys deductions instead having him seem to just know things sometimes, and I especially think it's where a lot of the levity was lost. So much of the humor in the books is persassy's narration and without voicover (no thank you) that's hard to translate to a visual medium. I definitely think they could have found better solutions but I'm hopeful for season 2 and beyond to improve as they find their voice (just like imo the og series did as it found its voice in books 3-5 especially).
@matte5705
@matte5705 6 ай бұрын
My biggest worry though is I was really enjoying the moral ambiguity they were giving Poseidon in the Medusa episode (the best episode) and since we met him I feel like they're not committing to it as hard as I would like, and I truly hope that evolves as percy does. Im fine with him being somewhat sympathetic but I want more complexity because otherwise it weakens Luke as foil to Percy, we need to see Percy different from luke not because he didn't have daddy issues but because of the choices he made despite them.

this is sooo true i think it would be absolutely amazing if we got a first person POV, i thought that was what they were going for at the beginning of the season with "Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood" but they didn't!!! hopeful for season 2 to be better too!
@adriannep3547

@@CiaraGan I feel like a first-person POV wouldn't be as fun as it was reading in the books. It would feel like whiplash to go from a humorous scene to a serious scene and still take them seriously. Since it's a TV show and not a book, I don't think the transition would be as smooth. Plus, it'd be a tad bit annoying to constantly not read but HEAR Percy's thoughts lol (which is fine in a humorous aspect, but not with how much more serious they are trying to make the show, at least).

11:48 I think this is a good addition because this is a way to draw parallel between Percy and Luke. We also get to understand Luke's motivation more. In the books I think Rick haven't thought of his bacsktory yet while writing TLT. When I read way back, I hated Luke because I don't understand where he's coming from. Also, adding Hermes makes me look at it in the lens of him and Posiedon being foils of each other (just like Percy and Luke). Narrative-wise it's a good change. 11:55 I'm curious what song would be your choice if you're going to change the needle drop song. 20:30 Making the fight long is too unrealistic. That's the god of war he is fighting and the only reason he won is because Ares toyed with him. He was too cocky to realize they are near the ocean. If he start to take the fight seriously, Percy is dead in an instant. Percy has to win in a swift way. 27:55 It is important to explain why she chose to marry him but I'm not mad they did nit make him super abusive. I'm tired of women being damsel in distress and can't stand up to men. Lol. But that's a personal preference. As for the sacrifice, they still showed way more of how Sally struggled raising Percy alone and they also made her standout. It's completely believable that Posiedon will break a pact for her. The "Queen among Mortals" really does fit her description.

Tbh the lotus casino in the book wasn’t as extravagant as people remember it. The only reason people hype it up is because of the movie. In the book, they went to a hotel, changed clothes, got sucked in my games, figured it out and left. As for the ares fight the only reason it seemed long is bc of the explaining of it. It wasn’t that long either. Plus it makes since it wasn’t long he is a demigod fighting THE GOD OF WAR. In the book he maneuvered and tricked him to finesse his way to the win, same with the show.

The books (especially the first few) were aimed at such a young demographic that carrying that over to the show would have lost a large part of audiences. Okay here are some random things from someone who hasn’t read the books but saw the movie first (I read the books after). I mean I think I kinda like how I watched the show first to see it as sorta a more its own thing. Plus I’m really good with being open to adaptations since I watched and read the how to train your dragon series and liked both of them as their own things! -The shows tone was kinda dark. Literally like some scenes I had trouble looking and distinguishing people like “Wait is that Grover? I can’t see it’s really dark I need like a flashlight”. But I did see some nice scenes like the fireworks scene with annabeth finding out about Luke’s betrayal was literally eye candy for me -I wasn’t mad about Percy not having blonde hair because…. Before I ever read the books or watched any media of it, I heard “Percy Jackson” and assumed he was blonde, for some reason idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ Okay but now I do see him as like more of a brunette -I’m kinda okay for them to figure out all of the monsters and tricks on the way because honestly, as someone who is obsessed with Greek mythology before Percy Jackson, I would of been sitting there going “ITS SO OBVIOUS CMON”. BUT THATS JUST ME! And I think maybe a littttle mystery would be nice, like the lotus casino I would would probably forget about that I shouldn’t eat the food (But it’s pumped into the air in this show version, I’ll probably think it’s smells nice and not know it’s lotus lol) -I WANT TO GO TO CAMP HALF BLOOD! okay cause like I have this camp which reminds me of camp half blood and now I’m going to read the books there and feel like I’m in camp half blood. Some of my favourite things about media are world building and me just wanting be there and watch them have fun. That’s why I liked the first movie a lot of Harry Potter, because I liked looking at hogwarts and stuff -I do think there is a little too much tell then show, I think that’s a big problem with some adaptations. But it wasn’t that big of a deal to me for this one -My favourite part is actually watching them make the show, with all the behind the scenes because it looks like so much fun and I love making stuff Overall: I really liked the show as a newcomer to the Percy Jackson fandom! And now I’m really into Percy Jackson because of it. Also watching all these actors my age is something that makes me want to start acting even more because I always loved it. I didn’t think much about the little details that could be fixed since I just really enjoyed relaxing and just enjoying the show! (I’m not picky with most of my media, on rare occasions I just see things as good, but not spectacular)

as an old fan I feel like it's a great adaptation in a lot of ways like with the casting etc etc but some scenes felt too rushed and we were robbed of so many things like the lotus casino and the thing with Percabeth talking in the truck bc that's an important Percabeth moment they talk about in MoA and I needed it !! And just so many things I wish we could have also gotten. I do understand that maybe there were limits imposed by budget restrictions etc but in my dreams the seasons are like ten or twelve episodes with the same episode length with more time spent with the characters because the characters are the best part and we got mostly plot and not a lot of the characters just interacting. We could have gotten post-quest CHB content of Annabeth and Percy and Grover etc too. I hope for future seasons we get more episodes and it feels less rushed.

Loved the show (non book reader). There were some flat episodes… but the last two were a huge finish.. the casting was amazing… and your note about the eye acting with Scobell and Stephens was absolutely true. That whole episode that started with Lance Riddick and ended with Poseidon zapping his kid back to camp was worth watching 10 times. FYI - 1st Ave and East 104th is up in East Harlem, south of El Barrios, close to the East River and East Harlem Esplanade.

I'm a 55 y.o. brazilian nerd that never read the books. I quite liked the series, got spoiled by Luke's role in the series because of many youtube video titles, but I think I'd figure it out by myself. For a kids' show, I do think it did very well. No big ups or downs, but a lot of interesting developments. All in all, I give a 7 or an 8 out of 10. Let's say 7,5. I hope that there's a redemption arc for Luke in future books, as I found him to be the most interesting character of the series, alongside Sally.

I loved the whole show sooo much not better than the books obviously nothing can beat them the only scene I was truely disappointed with was Custys waterbeds they one was just flat and there was no mystery to it and with the lotus hotel I did really like the episode I think they did it pretty well but I could have been more fun and kinda less casino ish I guess?? Like I don’t think many kids genuinely would enjoy it as much as how it was in the books with the water slides and all that and I would have preferred that they found out that it had been 5 days from asking people but it still works how they did it so overall I still really liked it especially considering how the movies went….

I do not know if it's the fact that I am 25 or the fact that I read the books, but the show did not hit for me. The tone was way too serious from what I remember and I feel like the only parts they expanded on in the books were Sally and Percy's relationship. Which is great and I do not mind that, but where they could have fleshed out more instead of changing they lost me. Medusa's change was fine to me, but the way they changed her and then had her turn on the kids instantly was like uh okay 180. Then you have episodes starting in what feels like the middle of the plot (Crusty's, Back at Camp, On the Train). It is like little moments where we could see the kids struggle they decided not to include. In the book the trio barely makes it out of this adventure alive. They are hungry, tired, and scrambling. I never felt any of that in the show and it felt very boring.

Books are still better! People are hating the "show and tell" criticism, arguing that there are a lot of exposition in the books. bUT THIS IS A VISUAL MEDIUM. There's so much they can do to SHOW Percy's world than just keep telling. There should've been a balance. Also, They think we're overreacting but that mystery and the chase that comes with it is what makes their quests so compelling to me. I feel bad for the new viewers not experiencing the thrill facing monsters blindly. I also wont shut up at how they keep cutting the fight scenes. Others said there weren't that much action in the books BUT there weren't this little too! There are still a lot of fight exchanges and witty maneuvering the trio did to outsmart the monsters. As for the Lotus Casino? It's by far the worst adapted in my opinion. 😅 I absolutely agree with your points. I couldn't even feel how fun it was there to make me not want to leave. I couldn't also feel how much different generations of people were trapped there and how alarming that was to the trio when they finally realized. If they're problem is run-time, why did Disney make an 8 episode series and do only 30 minutes each? 😅 They could've done an hour each
@nicoleterego

Genuinely, I'm really curious which part could they have changed to show rather than tell in the show? As for me, the only time I wish they did it is Luke and Annabeth's relationship and Percy discovering the trick of the lotus casino. It wasn't as bad to me as people claim it to be or maybe I'm just enjoying the show so I did not pick up on it. When it comes to the monsters, the medusa one worked for me because it made sense for them to clock it fast. Specially with a child of athena with them and obvious statues around. Even reading it as a child annoyed me that they were so oblivious about the obvious monster in front of them. The chimaera, I think they did a good job heightening the suspense of the chase since the monster wasn't shown early and was only teased until the very end. I like the chase and the way that Echidna sounds menacing even while looking like a normal "Karen". Lol. The casino, that's the one I hope they stumbled upon by accident. But I do not care that they know about the flower since it still achieved the same effect with the reveal of the flowers being pumped into the air. I did not even expect them to add Crusty's because it was such a boring and forgettable part of the book to me so I was surprised they kept him in. The fight scenes only became longer in Sea of Monsters forward because they've been nonstop encountering monsters or being chased by one since they left camp halfblood. I agree they could've made the medusa fight longer, it would have been interesting to maneuver the maze of statues as they do hide-and-seek but they still managed to work as a team in defeating her like the books did. The Ares fight is short to make it believable. There's no way Percy can last more than 5 minutes in a fight with the literal god of war. The point of that fight is that Ares was cocky and toying with him and that's why he got to oustmart him before he decides to be serious and pulverize him. The crusty one, they changed enirely from the book and the only reason I can think of is because seeing kids strapped in a waterbed and beheading monster will be too graphic for the kids watching this. Which brings me to the point why I think they made the episodes short. (Not that I'm happy with it. I also would love atleast an hour long episode) I think they made it short because the target audience are kids and they have to cater to the children's attention span. In one of their post, Becky said the runtime is enough to be viewed in a "classroom setting". Which I hate but I'm hoping they will opt to add atleast 2 episodes next season. They can keep the runtime but just add more episodes. Then in Titan's Curse, they can up the rating to TV-14 so that they can be more free showing the scenes that are more mature. But yeah, I enjoyed the show so much. Do I think it's better than the books? Of course not, source material is always better. But did it make me feel the same feeling while reading the books? Absolutely, yes.

@@nicoleterego Before I say anything, I’d want to clarify that I’d still keep up with this show and will still hope for 5 seasons despite the disappointment. There are changes that I love in the series and was grateful it was added. Of course this is a better adaptation than the movies. But the amount of flaws it has is baffling. I really hope Disney listens and fix these. The characters kept telling the audience what they’re about to encounter next instead of just letting the dangers UNFOLD. I love the change with Medusa because that makes sense, but the rest? Echidna was trying so hard to be threatening with her speech but couldn’t even fully evoke that sense of fear and danger during the chase. Disney can’t even show her true form. Crusty’s was sooo boring because of the immediate exposition. Just let the kids walk in the trap and solve the problem as it goes. Just like how it is in the books! They aren’t all-knowing. Even Annabeth since this is their first quest. They aren’t supposed to be experts. I dont even want to talk about the Lotus Casino. They strip all the tension, mystery, and fear in the show. Kids lost interest in PJO because there was barely anything for them to be excited about. What more? They kept talking about the past: thalia, big 3 kids, WWII caused by the gods, Annabeth’s past, etc. They have so much time doing flashbacks that’s not in the books but couldn’t even spare one to VISUALLY tell viewers about these crucial plot points. For example, the show puts so much emphasis on how destructive the war between gods would affect the world but they couldn’t even SHOW it so the audience could truly experience and feel its weight. If you’re familiar with the show “Once Upon A Time” it’s the perfect example of a seamlessly weaved flashbacks and present time storytelling. For the action scenes, the Ares fight was underwhelming since the writers had to cut the sequence again and make Percy give his speech before summoning the sea. Both encounters with the gods and monsters were lackluster because there was almost no magic that could tell viewers of how otherworldly they were and that these 12-yr-old kids had to take them on. Hades’ army of skeletons, Ares’ burning eyes, his earth-shaking scream when he was stabbed, even him exploding the police cars- any power which could’ve made the dangers more threatening, are all stripped off the show. For a fantasy series, Disney really hated showing how the magic in Percy’s world is blended in the mortal world. It’s one of the books main themes but we lost it. 😭 There’s a lot I want to say more but you can watch this video instead. They’re not even a huge PJO fan but they were spot on with the criticism: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jd6mgsuoqLOqYmg.htmlsi=81i-4B5oWrceNeTN

@@junkyuseum First of all, that video you linked is the most nitpicky unfair video review I've ever seen. I ain't giving them another view. Anyway, your comment really made me realize that it's just really a matter of perspective because: 1. You claim that Echidna was 'trying hard to be threatening' but to me she is threatening. I like that they didn't need to make her look like a monster to invoke a sense of threat. The way she delievred her lines and the way the monster she is carrying was not revealed early. Them changing it to a chase from train to the arch made was a better choice for me imo rather than in the book where she was just someome they met at the top. And Percy being poisoned too contribute to the suspense of that episode. Narratively, Echidna looking like a normal Karen plays with the "Not everyone who looks like a monsters is a monster" and vice versa part. Echidna may not look like one but is definitely a monster. Just like Medusa who looks like a monster but is actually just a victim (atleast in the book's context) of the god's pettiness. 2. Crusty scene is definitely a cringe choice. Again, I did not expect him to be included in the show but they did and since he is not the monster of the day thing, then I forgot about it after. So I did not care much about it. 3. The lotus casino episode was good to me and even my friends who haven't read the books liked it. They heard me say that I hope they stumbled upon it instead of knowing exactly what they need to do when they come in and they were defending it with me lol. But, aside from that nitpick of mine, I like how they utilized the episode to expand on Luke, Grover, and set-up the last two episodes. As I said above, the tension still worked on me because even though they know about the flower, they still didn't know it was instead pumped into the air. It's not like they removed that part completely and did not let time pass at all. Imo, the book chapter about this was very boring to me. Granted they could've opt to make them play stuff before they found Hermes (again my problem why they should've just stumbled upon the hotel rather having clear purpose), but they exchanged it with them trying to drive a car which is very fun and served the purpose of them just being kids whilst being forced to finish an impossible quest. 4. Who are these kids who "lost interest in PJO"? Because as far as I know the show was successful in targeting this certain demographic. Parents complain on the show's socmed acc how their kid skipped school to visit a photo-op for the tv show but after waiting in line for a CHB shirt did not get one because of so mamy people lining up. Adam Copeland, the guy who plays Ares, can’t even pick his daughter up from school without getting flooded by kids who yell “Ares, Ares!” at him. Jason Manzoukas had his friends tween kids giving him notes on how to play Mr. D. Minors on tiktok are "learning" how to act because they want to be on the show even though they had no prior experience beforehand. I listen to a podcast led by mother and son (10 years old) who are loving tbe series and very enthusiastically discuss each episode in their pod. The kid even talked about watching it together at school with the whole class every week. These complaints mostly come from adults and long time book fans, not the kids. 5. "Spend so much time that's not in the books but couldn't spare one to visually tell viewers about these crucial plot points." Annabeth's past being shown in a flashback would make more sense in Sea of Monsters because that's the time they have Thalia casted already and will make more sense storywise since they will explore Annaebth-Luke-Thalia dynamic more which is specially crucial leading to the siren scene and Thalia being brought back. And to be fair, the flashbacks added in this season are all crucial to the plot. This book is all about Percy and his journey into coming to terms with his godly side. Also, how he was raised different and that's why he will make different choices from Luke. Them being foils of each other and all. Imo, Sally-Percy relationship in the show is more fleshed out than in the books which is a good thing. Though, I can see the point in adding some visual manifestation of the ongoing war, that's what I was missing too (ties in with overall worldbuilding complaint below). I'm not sure about the world war (?) flashbacks and the flashback to the pact being made. It might appeal to some of you but to me it will remove the suspense of meeting the gods for the first time. Zeus being this looming threat and actually delivering to his performance was one of the highlights of the finale for me. 6. For the Ares fight, that's just being too nitpicky. Percy saying that line is incredibly powerful because of all the build-up to him knowing who he is before the gods tell him who he's supposed to be. That's him finally embracing fully who he is plus it shows his anger for consistently being belittled by Ares which is accurate to the books. It's not even a speech but like, one line. 7. Again, one of the things we have different perspective about, the gods. To me, Ares was already menacing without the fire in his eyes. I even think it would look weird (borderline goofy) if they add that CGI. Also, the emotions conveyed through acting would be hard to see. I don't remember Ares exploding a car in the books (because I did not reread the last few chapters to fully enjoy the finale) but I imagine not showing that is age restriction? Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon already feels godly even just by standing there. They embody their characters so much. Only qualm I have is Dionysus being more goofy rather than unhinged and threatening. 8. Your last statement, I would agree on. I'd love to see more of the fantastical side of Percy Jackson. That is why I rated episode 7 lower than it shoulsd have been just cause I think they missed the opportunity to worldbuild. For the other episodes, it's understandable that they can't do it since they were jumping from real world locations to locations but for the underworld, they could've added the crowded place. Showed the fields of asphodel, elysium, and the skeleton army etc. That's what I hope will be changed in future season because it will be a disservice to this big mythological world Rick created. Fingers crossed they get bigger budget and focus on enchancing the worldbuilding since they have already laid out the foundations of the characters and the overarching story. My personal criticism is about the length of the show, missed opportunity for worldbuilding, and the pacing (which will circle back to them having short runtime). Other than that, it boils down to personal preference. Sometimes bias can also be at play since some people are too way too attached to the books or the movies (emphasis on SOME) that it prevents them to enjoy the show. I am satisfied with a character driven story. I don't care much about fancy fighting for now. We have a lot of time for that in future seasons specially when they finally make the age rating TV-14. I know they listen to VALID criticisms. Showrunners attended those critic's panel last month which from my research are only attended by professional TV critics and an avenue for them to discuss about the show amongst other things. So yeah, it's good that you are still going to give the future seasons a chance. Hopefully they live up to your expectations.
