I truly think this build is going to be absolutely unreal and incredible!!! I can't wait to see when the paint starts going on.

I’m looking forward to that stage. Shouldn’t take long to get there.

You're a brave man with a ton of experience - drilling out those bridge holes without masking tape to set the depth is not something I could do myself :D
@BradAngove
@BradAngove 3 ай бұрын
If I was drilling fresh ones I would use tape. It’s pretty easy when you’re just slightly widening an existing hole to tell when you get to the bottom.

Brad, did you verify that the bridge and saddle is electrically conductive? Some black coatings are not, I have found.

@spokes28, Very good point! And BRAD, I'm sure you know more about paint than me so I've deleted all the blah blah blah in my earlier comment. My old Schecter PT Saturn has a black-coated FR trem bridge which has a good quiet ground, so next time I have a reason to look inside I'll see if they did anything special to get that. Your project is looking great. Nice kit.

I’ve grounded one of these in the usual way (on the post) before and it worked well. Keep in mind the saddle itself is not colored.

I ended up having to use metric bits on that kit to enlarge the bridge. A lot of hardware manufactured in Asia requires metric drill bits.

Have you looked at the open gear locking hipshot tuners I think they look really nice. They come in Chrome, Gold, and black.The black ones with the brass gears looks very nice I think.

So much learned from your content Brad. Greatly appreciated. Might I ask where in Canada you are located? Just bought a kit and have a neck fit issue I'm not sure how to correct. If you're in my area I'd love your input.

The tight fit with the hardware might just be a humidity issue. I have made guitars that this has happened to when I do the final assembly. When I made the wood pieces (neck and body) the hardware fit just fine. Alot of times I can remedy it with a Dremel tool with a small sanding drum, Hope this helps.

Brad, have you ever seen a Les Paul kit at the quality of Precision Guitars but with a Floyd Rose prep?
@BradAngove

I haven’t. You may be able to order it with something similar. Probably not an FR though since the guitar is raised bridge.

@@BradAngove thanks, Warmoth might be the best bet then.
@BradAngove
@BradAngove 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, if you want to do that you’re going to need a flat neck setup, so it would need to be a custom order I think. Another option is a roller bridge with a tremolo tail piece. I’m not sure exactly what hardware you would use for that.

So he wants 3 pots and a kill button. Why does he want to kill button up where the switch goes?

It seems like he is going for like a DJ Ashba layout on the controls or something similar to that.

Prob so he can tap it easily while playing. It's more of a button than a switch.
@BradAngove

That’s the layout he has selected. It’s on of the stock ones available from Gunstreet wiring shop so it must be reasonably popular. I can’t wait to hear it in action.

Brad, please, what do I do here. I have a telecaster style guitar body that's a little too wide. If I trim it down to the correct size,what does it do to the neck pocket?
@BradAngove
@BradAngove 2 ай бұрын
It shouldn’t do anything. In guitar production the neck pocket is usually routed first and then the contour of the body is done. The neck pocket itself isn’t going to get smaller. I assume you’re using a template to trim it though and your neck is standard size? Otherwise you may have an issue there.
