By now you've probably heard of the NBA's dreaded second apron.
It's already loomed large this summer as the league's highest spending teams try to navigate these murky new waters

As an NHL and NBA fan, damn. I stand by my take that in any cap world, drafted and home grown talent should have some cap relief effect. If you drafted and trained a player (like JT) you should be rewarded for it, not penalized.

Dynasties are not bad.... You needed those kinds of teams for other teams to be smarter.

CJ McCollum gets a lot of criticism for being the player's union president who oversaw this Collective Bargaining Agreement but its the Governors (owners) who forced it through. They wanted to penalize the likes of Steve Ballmer and Joe Lacob for being big spenders and they got it.

I think the problem with the payrolls is the max salary. Take Phoenix, their 3 main players, Booker, Durant and Beal are being paid $150 million because they are getting the max salary.

You can already see who it actually hurts: mid level players

They should give exceptions for teams to players who has only been in one team since their rookie year and call it loyalty exception. At least allow a player to retire in a team where they started. It’s a rare thing and gives more identity to a brand and foster team loyalty for players and fans

There's an elephant in the room with this new rule: there's more and more talent in the NBA. This rule will penalize players in the long run because there will be fewer and fewer points of fall for max contracts.

NBA should do something to make homegrown talents an exception to money rules

It's going to take away from some exciting times... The buyout market was FUN to see... I hope they have a way to amend this moving forward

This will weed out which organizations really have their stuff together. If you wanna win multiple titles, your front office, coaching staff & roster have to be on point & on the same page.

The fact that teams that draft well can't keep their stars is bull. That was probably slipped in there by the OKC owner from the backlash he got for the Harden move

Imagine the 90s bulls if they won their second threepeat, then couldn't put together a good team for the next 30 years .... oh wait ...

People are too anxious to put an ''end'' to superteams (even though all superteams since the Warriors failed catastrophically), that I think they are being overall shortsighted here: yes, its true that teams who spend big to attract stars will be hampered... but so will teams that *actually draft well*. The OKC Thunder right now, for example, has a bounty of young talent... what happens when they all go into their actual big contracts? Shai and Chet are no-brainers, but so is JDub. You'd also want to keep Jay Will, Lu Dort, and I haven't even reached other young guys who showed very good potential, like Aaron Wiggins and Cason Wallace. A team like the Celtics already was fearful of looking forward knowing they had 2 Max players in their roster (and had to capitalize before the second apron hit), what is OKC gonna do having 3 of them AND other guys? Its an even worse situation then they were when they *let go of fucking James Harden*.

Or maybe max contracts should only go to the few very best players instead of every single all star in the league. Brunson seems to care more about keeping a roster together than killing the Knicks by demanding a max deal.
