@@zzzzzap you are not running high end games at 4k native at 60 fps better gpu's then yours cant even do it or you are using dlss and dont know it there is nothing wrong with my analogy , and you have a rtx 2070* there is no 2700

But by that logic why bother with the upgrade in the first place? Steam deck sweet spot is: 40fps/40hz/1152x720/global fsr/ With this I get minimum of 4hrs game time, with smaller games like hades I am just shy of that 8hr mark. P.S I am running windows 11

Which is fair. I'm still learning so. Your tips or suggesting thereof will be very useful! I'll apply those later. Speaking of Windows 11 - what ISO do you recommend (custom Win11 iso like ReviOS?) and even softwares (like for debloating and stuff). THANKS Oh, another thing. How would you enable FSR while in windows? Does the overlay with the settings still pop up while in Windows? Because when I went to desktop mode on the deck, the steam button not retrieve the overlay unless I went into that big picture mode or "gaming mode".

@@VinnyUnion I am currently using win11 x lite neon nights ( a.k.a phoenixLiteOS ) There is absolutely no bloatware on there. As for global fsr I use lossless scaling. And with that I use Steam deck tools. With that you can control everything like tdp and all that plus it has a fan control. Now with steam deck tools I have bound alt + s to the back buttons, which is the shortcut I set in lossless to scale from 1152x720 to 1200x720. As for the size, I too was surprised the first time I saw it for real

Deck can't even run most games at 800p anyway. Have to suffer the pixel mess with FSR Performance at 30-40fps. If you play anything other than indie games and emulators you better just stream your games via Moonlight to actually enjoy the games

No way you’ll be getting the 144 fps, at 1200p, needed for that to make a difference. A game running at 60 fps looks almost identical on a 60hz and 144hz monitor

pointless. The Steam deck isn't going to be pushing anywhere close to 144fps for any semi modern game.

This might be counter intuitive, the main focus point of the steam deck is the 8hrs battery life they promised, unlike aya and onex and gpd which main focus point is power, but only for like 1h30m...[ Insert fart noise with 👎]

You can still play at 800p and enjoy the increased color. For only $99 it's not bad. Just wish it was an OLED.

Steam OS is ass though. I just bought a deck and used it for a day and was like what is this hype about? It's literally just steam big picture mode as the entire OS. I installed Windows 10 and can play anything. I'm just not seeing why anyone would wanna gimp their ROG Ally with steam OS. I've heard everyone saying windows was ass on the deck and I'm convinced these must be Linux shills. SteamOS is hot garbage compared to windows. And I don't even like windows but it's any game launcher, online play in any game, and using all windows apps. I'm using blender, character creator 3, marvelous designer, Photoshop etc. Maybe my use case is niche, but nah windows is just so much better.

I like steam OS cuz they implement new feature and improve performance on some games on game mode as they should

@@markevolution9840 peanuts. Windows is getting similar or better performance on most games and you can mod them, use all launchers and have way way more at your fingertips.

@@JeromeADavis Is this a joke? Steam OS can do much more than the big picture mode. Its an amazing seemless integrated console like user interface. On Windows 10 also not all games are working, so that's not true. Steam OS is soon supporting 10000 games, not enough? Why they want steam os on rog ally? Maybe cause it's terrible to move the mouse cursor in windows 11 with the joystick to super small text on the hd screen? And every try to click the right menu option results in missing it? The steam deck is intended as a video game console. If you want to use windows with specific applications like graphic editing software you would better us a workstation anyway. Who would buy a video game console for graphic editing, designing, ... Windows will not be better. Steam OS will get significant performance updates this year and will have more fps in games compared to windows. While using windows on a small screen of a video game console is just crap. Every game on steam os gets specially compiled shaders to run great without stuttering, an experience which windows can not deliver. And the development goes on to make windows obsolete in the end on the video game consoles.

Barely runs lastest games, but it runs older games really good.
