Just bought a Copper 2017 petrol automatic Cross Country. It arrives tomorrow. I'm very much looking forward to it, it's not top of the range but the design build quality is outstanding. I had no idea about the boot function for shopping! Very pleased about this. We are years on since this video was made, yet the car still looks a great example of modern contemporary design. It doesn't look out of place on the road today. A testament to the designer's skill. My only regret about my car is that I didn't find one equipped with the city package because the anti-collision feature is useful.

i took a test drive of this car and i loved it,only draw back i found was rear headroom was not that great...i felt claustrophobic since im 6ft tall.

The illuminated gear knob is standard on the R-Design and R-Design Lux. The price is actually £350.00, according to my brochure and the sales lady I spoke to yesterday.

I'm going to get myself one.

So true indeed.

I am from the US, so the lovely car is not available to me. However, is the V40 able to fit a full size spare tire or is it "doughnut" only? I would personally rather sacrifice the "height" feature of the boot/trunk and put in a full size spare if the space is required. This rear of this hatchback is not very high to start with but with recent tire incidents on my car, I find having a full size spare to be much more comforting.

Bring back the S40!

People usually test the car (or any kinds of car) with its full potential. So drivers would likely doing a full hard acceleration, hard braking, hard corners and stuff. Thus 10l for an average 100km is really economy even with such actions.

£1500 for an illuminated gear knob option. You'd need to be a knob to need it. I mean you look at your shifter and or your dash display and you know when you're in D/P/R/N..

I will always be a Volvo owner.Geely will give Volvo what was missing.What is it?well,money! IMHO Volvos were always better that German cars in terms of reliabilty/safety,but still,without Geely's investment,Volvo's future would be tough.You cant change easily a system that "forces" everyone to parrot from the age of 5 the 3 german brands as best cars.And please,dont misunderstand me,German cars are very good cars,i just make a point of how people act watching how the majority acts.

Looks really nice. But I don't consider to buy a Volvo since it is a Chinese company... I don't want to give my money to a Chinese! It's a shame that a great brand can't be owned by a western company! That's a pitty. We always had Volvos in our family since more than 35 years.

Yeah,yeah design is good, but you have made a mediumsized car a SMALL car ffs.

You just are trying to sell the car, you are not doing an objective view about the car because there are various negative aspects about the Volvo v40 which you aren't mentioning them. I'm not admiting although that the car is not a good car, quite the opposite, but frankly is not any near as perfect.

For me, V40 is currently the best in it's class, screw A3, screw 1 series and all other "status symbol" cars. V40 is a beautiful but it is not cheap unfortunaltey. The only thing with Volvo that I don't like is so much electronics, that's a good thing in one way, but when something goes wrong you have to pay in pure gold to repair your car. Parking sensors are OK and can be very helpful, but whats the thing with all these parking and driving assists. You will make stupid idiots out of people.

I have a grudge against Volvo for killing the S40, the perfect sedan. I have gone through the germans, for many years, and Volvo feels right there with them . But now they killed the perfect sized sedan, the S40, forcing us to either go to a V40 (hateful hatchback = girl car) or update to an S60. Not that I don´t love the S60, love it, but really feel these guys blew it by obliterating the s40, one of the best damn cars I have ever driven...and I have driven the germans, the best cars there are.

Hathcbacks are for girls. Men drive sedans.
