Back to building!
Here we get some skin support ribs out the way--a process that I thought would be a chore but wound up unexpectedly enjoyable. Fantastic!
Then the big ticket item. Before I close off the baggage floor, I needed to get the exterior steps mounted. The steps were an option, that as of this week has become standard equipment on "A" models. (Tricycle gear.)
Without the step, it's difficult to get a leg up to the wing walk, and increases the chances of someone falling on the flap, or outside of the wing walk area. For these reasons, I chose to include the step in my kit.
They're constructed from steel, though the gauge and construction makes them very lightweight. The welding is excellent, and I've long been excited to get them on the plane.
We'll go start to finish on these, both sides.

I'm Ryan, an aviation enthusiast who has decided to build his own aircraft and publish the entire process online for others to watch along. If you have ever want to build an airplane, this is a great glimpse at what it takes.
The airplane is a two-person experimental kit built aluminum plane capable of over 200 miles per hour, and a range of over 700 miles. The kit is manufactured by Van's Aircraft, one of the most prolific kit providers on the planet, now embroiled in a Chapter 11 reorganization process in order to prevent bankruptcy ;-). The airplane is aerobatic, functional, and fun. The build is challenging, time consuming, fun and rewarding.
