This is my review of the brand new ThumbPro Aracde stick.
It's unique in design, but brilliant in execution.
This particular unit is a BETA version, and I paid for it myself. I was not given this unit. However, this is really an excellent product.

I personally would prefer a Neo Geo CD D-Pad on something like this, a cross D-Pad would lead to blisters playing a lot of Street Fighter.

Totally suggest it to the makers. It's a great step and concept for sure. One thing I did mention is this is a BETA, There have been some drastic changes to the build quality. But I'll definitely pass this onto them, great suggestion and thanks for watching 😁

Definitely have plans for different dpad housings Saturn's 8way dpad/Analog thumbstick. Since this project is solo funded, I have to start with the basics.

@@thumbproarcade6261 It'd be alright for something like Mortal Kombat, but anything more is really going to wear on your thumb. But take a look at the Neo Geo CD/Neo Geo Pocket stick, that might be the the best model for your design. But you could also just make it modular, then the user could choose from a variety of pad types without having to buy a whole new stick.

@@Larry it already is "modular", as that housing can be removed and replaced. The dpad/magpad/pcb are all easy to change out. All the early beta participants can swap out old tech with current tech. I play a lot of Tony Hawk. It's a game that makes heavy use of nearly all 8 buttons in certain combinations that were clearly designed for a gamepad, but it also has directional motions too. I kind of want the reverse of this. Gamepad on the right side for all the face buttons/bumpers/triggers with easy access, and a lever on the left side to avoid misinputs

One of those ..... "I'm gonna have to try this first" kinda things - but I like the thinking. They could also include a traditional arcade stick on it and still have the thumb stick out the side too for both options

That’s an idea, although I think the idea is to keep it just as the Dpad for now. But this project has been developing and evolving very quickly; so who knows what the future holds.

When is the final version coming out? Also, was this beta version in stock on the site at one point?

Hey 👋🏼 I believe due to the on going global pandemic, there have been some delays in the final version. However, the latest revised version of the stick is available here and I believe is ready to be shipped ASAP thumbproarcade.com/product/beta-model-v-3/ The BETA version I have was in stock as I purchased my own one. I believe they were in limited supply due to unknown demand, so were made to order.

Baqsam This all plexiglass case style has been redesigned. The link below shows the changes made. As far as the final product, I'm thinking 2021 may be the year. Unfortunately, the company has actually been sold from what I have seen on Twitter. My advice would be to look at something like a keyboard style hitbox. A shame they sold the business but I have no other details except what is on their Twitter/X feed.

Entirely your opinion. Some would agree that this d-pad is their personal preference. However, if you take a look at their Twitter or Website, they are now offering an 8 way version. Similar to say a Sega Saturn pad. I’ll hopefully be getting this revision and I’ll do another video. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Hey :) since this was a BETA version of the unit (was mentioned) the much more revised versions are way looser. I’m actually waiting for my revised version so, once I get it I will be doing a follow up video. The interesting piece of news is there is a 8 way directional mod! And it’s amazing. I’d suggest taking a look at their website or mainly their Twitter for the latest photos. I can only assume they didn’t team up with someone to keep the costs down. Hope that’s explained a few things.
