In 1990, Washington quarterback Cary Conklin was being shown a ton of interest from the Washington Redskins, having a ton of pre-draft meetings and workouts with the team as they looked to draft a signal caller. His mother, however, for some reason, thought it was a completely separate team, leading to one of the most insane draft rumors and stories you'll ever hear

Now if it was that other thing, you know, the modern day bubonic plague that everyone who gets dies from (or so I was told in 2020) then I would be giving you and your channel the last rites. Just don't work yourself too hard, your core audience will understand and wait for you if you don't put out a video every other day.

I had totally forgotten that Conklin actually started a game against my team in '93, even though I remember watching it! That was the season after Joe Gibbs scurried out of town and left poor Richie Peititbon holding the bag on the sinking ship.

I wonder if this was some sort of ploy?? I'm trying to work out why this would be done intentionally, but cant really sort that one out. Maybe Cary and his Mother were trolling the Media?? Seems odd a Mother wouldn't be paying attention to who her son would be potentially signing such a life altering contract with. Maybe his Mother just knew nothing about football other than her son plays the sport??

The Giants drafted ol Justin Pugh 10 years ago and he came back last year because the line was in shambles but he has said that hes a die hard Eagles fans and so are all his friends and family and it didn't change when he came to the Giants i don't know how you can have a guy like that on your team

Phil had one of the best years of his life in 1990 before he got hurt; In 1993 he was selected to the Pro Bowl then Reeves cut him,which I'll never forgive him for. Belichick tried to get Phil to sign with the Browns but Phil wanted to retire a Giant. Considering he played in an exclusively run first offense and his best receiver was Bavaro,his 37,000 career yards is quite amazing. He also was tough as nails,standing in taking vicious hits time after time. It's a shame he couldn't have played 2 more years.

Phil Simms had a tough year in 1989 because he played most of the season on two bad ankles. Phil got himself healthy and was playing great in 1990 and played at a high level. He had his season end prematurely when his leg was broken in a late season game vs Buffalo.

Think after finding he got teams mixed when he hung , they thought he mentally challenged or he isn't to bright but how wouldn't he know or do the mix up

My guess is a clingy mother to whom he had to lie because she'd be upset if he wasn't playing in New York. Remember, there is no e-mail, no cellular network for most. And a 22 year old wouldn't think of the ramifications of lying to his mother. Until he got drafted.😂 I mean even Norman and Norma Bates would have said they had a "close relationship."

But Jeff George watching him , and his problem was Jeff thought he was great when he was ok at best , couldnt lead his team to no bowl game if a top level QB he had himself up for the Heisman and he may be playing for the national game but no nothing just like this years 2024 first pick QB C.Williams USC he didn't win the Heisman or played in the final 4 or have his team up for the national championship so big let down so some of the QB'S needed to land in right spot some are so good doesn't matter where they go and this guy Giants I could see it he was Sims a little and if he could've went where he doesn't need to carry the team.

Why do you start with the hypothetical parallel scenario (that didn’t happen) using current players? Why not just go straight to past scenario that actually did happen? I love your videos, but the "imagine if similar thing happened now with this other player/team" intros really adds no value.
