Players went on strike for more money and left with less off season practice. Quality of play early arguably sharply drops and now they’re getting the practice back, and no pay.

The NFL has had such sloppy play since they reduced practices. How about more practices instead of just shifting OTAs closer to training camp? Do the ramp up and regular OTAs.

Also the entire office staff and Coaches (hundreds) at each team need that 2nd week in June to 2nd week July- (since 1960’s) family vacation and kids out of school - NFl never thinks of them - get 1 month off and then rev up for training camp to games - taking off April or May doesn’t work for families - players off Jan -May then June-July -

There is a lot less practicing being done that they used to do and it's showing and might be causing more injuries as well. But you don't need two months for family vacation one month would be enough. Then add practice in May-June April May june off and start in July at a minimum.

Chase not showing up is crazy. Bro you have at least this season to play under your current deal. They are not paying you a new contract until at least after this coming season. You signed the deal. You gotta honor at least the actual 4 year deal. This kids are crazy

@@viktorstagnetti7491 that’s the risk everyone that plays sports signed up for. You signed a 4 year deal. Clearly you’re not a business owner. If my employee has a 4 year contract, said employee needs to work that contract. He can get any deal he wants after this season. Holding out has never worked for anyone ever in the nfl. He deserves all the money he’s set to earn but after your contract is up. Also apparently getting 40 million dollars guaranteed as an unproven rookie isnt enough to live for these guys.

Pretty sure Chase only showed up to VOLUNTARY camp his rookie year. He is doing his own thing, getting in shape. He will be there when mandatory camp starts. Schefter just trying to stir the pot. He did this the other week and fell flat on his face when arguing with Orlovsky. If you listen to local Cincinnati reporting and talk radio no one is really concerned, and liking how Joe is getting his reps in with the young guys.

The length of the Off season is ridiculous . They need to be playing 24 games a season before playoffs not 16. Rugby union and rugby league are the other nfl type football games in the world and they are way tougher and their seasons are universally 24-26 games/ weeks and a month of playoffs. Including training camp the entire season runs November to September. 8 weeks off, month longer if you don’t make playoffs. Oh and if superstars make all star star teams or national teams you might have no offseason at all

@@jonathanburns665 same as every other game. Average is 4 years for scrubs , good players is 10 , guys who are quality 12-15. In the NRL they have the 300 games club that’s like a pretty high honour. But 200 games gets you life membership at the leagues club( every team has a bar , that has restaurants ,poker machines and OFF TRACK betting to generate revenue for the team) and you don’t have to pay a yearly fee to get in to any more

Like DBut says, this is basically extending the season. This will be harder on older players because of less recovery time. This will also mean most players will peak near the middle of the season instead of the end of the season (at least for the first few years). This will make better competition early in the official season, though.

The NHL has the AHL and it works great. Every NHL team has an AHL affiliate and they operate as 1 whole organization. Guys get game reps and playoff experience while developing.

The league should go back to 16 games. Add another bye week and a league wide break after 8 games. All teams get a bye in the first and second halves of the season. All games on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The league knows how hard the game is on the human body. Their solution is to limit non revenue generating activities?

I have loved sports since the age of 5 and I am 71 black women. I have seen things change not for the best . It's all about money and power. It's not exciting anymore. I have only three teams I watch now. Please keep the games on regular TV. Everybody can't afford to have those others channel. The average American can't buy those games. Please don't make the season longer and play in American only.

I have no clue how players feel about this, I imagine there is a mix, but in my mind what makes sense is a one or two week rookie camp the week after the draft, and then nothing until training camp. Have non-playoff teams report last week of June, a week later if you played divisional round, another week later if you played conference round, and the superbowl teams would be the last ones in late July. However, it's optional for playoff teams, they can take their late start or start earlier if they want. Leave the facilities open for workouts all summer long as long as at least one member of the training staff and one member of the strength staff is there. Vets can go to rookie minicamp and hang out if they want, they can workout as much as they want, just no organized practices on field.

And again, ain’t nobody signing up for that bs not even on a “rotation.” They already do rotations as is because they know they get a few weeks free between OTAs and having to return to prepare for camp. You probably wouldn’t get it if you’ve never been around that side of an NFL building before tho

@catalan500_8 LoL no one said it is ran by one person I said at least one person from the training staff and one from the strength and conditioning staff present because of liability purposes. No one said that's what they prefer to do, I said that's what I would propose. Reading is key.

Makes sense to me for quality of life for the players. Players can train around their families. Especially since NFL has been adding games to the schedule. Maybe they can do a rookie camp for draft picks and UFA's.

To me, players are getting injured easier. Pretty much health is determined by players always taking hits and the amount of shielding the nfl does to protect players actually hurt players and their health by not toughening up bones to impacts
