I remember watching the very game live when Barry Sanders got 2000, then promptly popped off that 50+ yard run, that was awesome.

kentucky here. We rarely got to see a Lions game on tv. Sucked sooo bad. Lions aren't my favorite team but Barry was my favorite player. What a wasted opportunity not showcasing one of the greatest the nfl ever had. Thanksgiving was almost the only time I got to watch him.

The safety for the Broncos at the end of the video is Steve Atwater. He was one of the hardest hitting safeties in the league. He would put his head down and put his helmet right in your chest. Most of his big hits would be considered illegal in today's game. From the late 80's to the mid 90's, the Broncos defense (the orange crush) was a lot of fun to watch. They had Atwater at one safety position and Denise Smith at the other safety position and both of those guys would lay some lumber week in and week out.

You guys would love the original "NFL Films" videos from the 1960s. They were the first to show the true magnitude of professional football. It was magical to watch those old films on tv. ...Also, there are many NFL highlights, year by year, from the late 1960s and 1970s to see the true toughness and grit of old American football.

Yeah seems like there was a time when about 10:30 at night on ESPN they'd show NFL Films, John Facenda's voice. Loved that stuff.

I genuinely love the Office Blokes. They just seem like a good group of dudes, that if you went down the pub and saw them at a table, you'd want to go over and have a chat with them.

A good, short, and concise example is the Steve Atwater hit during Super Bowl 32. Or honestly most of Atwater’s big hits during his career; imagine that happened in today’s game and how many tens of thousands+ he would have to pay in fines

As a life long Broncos fan, the days of Atwater and Denise Smith at safety was by far my favorite time watching football. Those two would bring the lumber week in and week out.

Here in the states, in the 80s, bowling was on tv and was enjoyed. Similar to snooker, lost its popularity in the 90s.

Of the NFL looked different in the 90s, the televisions weren't large screen, wide, and digital. Another key reason the game is different is the importance of analytics.

We have the same things with blackouts here in the US. It's a bigger issue in basketball, baseball, and hockey than it is with the NFL but there's still some blackouts. It stinks

I was one of those hardcore fantasy football guys in the 90's. We got the results out of the paper the next day and whatever they put down in that paper stood.

I have been watching NFL football since 1956 ,when we got our first TV set .The game has changed so much since then , luckily I haven't , LOL ... I collected football cards and knew all of starters on every NFL team then . Of course there were far fewer teams then and free agency didn't exist ,so there was no player movement from team to team ,except for trades .There were also only 12 games per season . The thing that I dislike most about the changes is all of the rule changes to promote the passing game and handcuff the defenses . The quarterbacks now are almost as protected from hits as a crooked democrat politician is from prosecution .

Even tough todays players are bigger and faster than the NFL players of the 50's thru the 1970's yet those earlier players played during a time when the game rules allowed a lot more physical contact that is allowed in todays games and it was common for players to have to play hurt because most players were playing hurt because was a lot more physical than todays game.

It's literally a different sport in my opinion. The comedian Patrice O'Neal said it best, it was a gladiator sport and even the fans were more brutal than today. Screaming chants like HE'S PARALYZED.

Lol that Elway leap at the end there still happens by some QBs, much to the chagrin of coaches. Jake Allen is notable for doing it.

Ha once watching ESPN classic I was excited to see a late 60s college game and … holy smokes it was boring. Straight up the middle … Straight up the middle … Straight up the middle … Straight up the middle …. 3 yards every play. It got a lot better in the 1970s.
