I just realized that it seems like in the UK, there isn't really any border between made-for-TV programs and movies. I mean, the production values is insane! Whether it's for TV or for the big screen, it seems like it'll always be brilliantly well-made.

The UK is collection 340 million quid from TV Licensing. Their annual budget is not to bad creating a sound programme. The production cost was 30m for the Night Manager.

German TV used to be good. Very nice documentaries, nice movies when looking 30 or 40 years back. Now it is filled with shit, fast content, badly reseached and cost cutting everywhere.... at least the top is getting their neck full. I am not sure if this is still an actual topic but I believe ZDF were broadcasting entertainment shows from Turkey and Spain for the viewers in at home in Germany. Speaking honestly now: wtf are they all about. Wasting the payers money the grand way. They need to crank up the game severely. I wouldn't not give them a dime.for the shit they broadcast. As far as I know the statutory law requires the state TV to inform people in the first place. But this is not what they do. With the budget that have they could actually make a world class programme. But it is like everywhere. There are a lot of people who have a name, coming down from celebrities, but who don't have talents.

thebooky161 I just finished watching it. Laurie was insanely good, enough for me to go looking for highlights and opinions. I’m amazed at the Hiddleston fans, I found him so wooden and frankly awful in this. Laurie made him look like a one dimensional actor.

Movies are limited in time, which makes it easier to be exciting. On the other hand in series u have to fill so many episodes with an interesting material, and that is exactly what True detective has failed miserably to accomplish during the 2nd season. Plus if u didn't like Sherlock, GOT or BB .. then, arguing with you is a vicious circle.

The BBC are currently airing "The Night Manager" in the UK and we are three episodes of six into the series. It's one of the most gripping pieces of television drama I've ever watched. Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddlestone are already well know internationally but Tom Hollander, Olivia Colman and Elizabeth Debricki are also excellent in this production. If it comes to a TV near you I recommend it highly. It's gripping stuff.

I already have finished the entire episode yesterday. I watched it because Tom won the Golden Globe for this series, so I was curious. And, it was worth it! Amazing series and goddamn sexy performance of Tom Hiddleston. I love Olivia Colman's performace as well.

Loving The Night Manager so far! It's intelligently written, sexy and thrilling at the same time and keeps you wanting more. The casting is absolutely perfect - the very best of British talent. Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie are amazing and Olivia Coleman is on top form as well. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
