The Night World of Football Realized Lionel Messi Is Bigger than the ballon d'Or Award !
The ballon d'Or is the world's most prestigious award in sports which is awarded for the world's best football player over a year. The ballon d'Or has historically been regarded as football's most prestigious and valuable Individual award. Actually, it is the most discussed, most cherished, most talked, most highlighted award for any sports around the globe. Winning it is the second biggest dream for any footballer after the FIFA World Cup. The ballon d'Or is awarded by the 'France Football' but is decided by voters from all over the world. The winner of ballon d'Or is decided by international journalists, captains & coaches of national teams under FIFA ( Association Football Federation ). Along with national team captains & managers , journalists from FIFA's 100 top-ranked member nations ( FIFA Rankings ) also vote on the winner. Even when FIFA used to give a separate award named 'World Player of the Year' for previous years , ballon d'Or still remained the biggest award in football. And even now when 'FIFA Best' is awarded by football's highest governing body the 'ballon d'Or' still remains the biggest award in the history of Football.
LIONEL MESSI - BIGGER THAN BALLON D'OR :
On 12 December 2016, Cristiano Ronaldo won the ballon d'Or by a record margin over Lionel Messi. What does winning the award means? It means Cristiano Ronaldo should have simply been the best player in the world. But actually he wasn't ! The raw statistics show that Lionel Messi has scored 58 goals and provided 32 assists in 61 appearances for his club and country , compared to Ronaldo's 51 goals and 17 assists. So there will be those who argue that Messi was a more deserving winner that year. Messi may have helped Barcelona pip Real Madrid to La Liga and Copa del Rey success, but Ronaldo claimed the ballon d'Or that year by simply winning the UEFA Champions League and the European Championship with his teams. So Cristiano Ronaldo deservedly won that year's ballon d'Or as we know team success plays a huge role in deciding the winner. But That does not mean by any means that he was better than Lionel Messi.
On December 18, Lionel Messi stole all the headlines from Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world. The whole world saw the level of Lionel Messi as he cut his opposition to ribbons and literally dazzled the crowd for whole 90 minutes. The commentators and broadcasters were so mesmerised they literally lost words for this performance.

Ronaldo in 2016 = 51 Goals + 17 Assists (68 Goal contribution in total), UCL & Euro. Did nothing in UCL final, did nothing in Euro final. Was not even the best player of Euro. Did not even play the final. Messi in 2016 = 58 Goals + 34 Assists (92 goal contribution in total), Won LaLiga & Copa Del Rey almost SINGLE HANDEDLY , Was the Best Player of Copa America (Player of the Tournament). And they Say Messi robs others' ballon d'Or. Clearly Lionel Messi deserved to win 2 more. 2016 & 2017. They stole 2 ballon from him.

It depends on the criteria. If it is to be given to the BEST, the one who can play the best football, Messi would have literally every single ballon dor while he's active. But the criteria is who had the most impact in the season and i think its just fair that CR7 won those years.

In terms of statistics, Messi gets 2009-2019 except 2013 and 2014. However its not always about statistics, its about trophies as well and as the other comment said, the impact on the season. The reason why Messi won 2023 is because he had a higher Goals+assists than Haaland and had same amount of trophies but more impact than Haaland. But i agree, i always hate when People say Messi robbed ballon d'ors when they dont have ball knowledge, or when they think they have more ball knowledge than professional journalists.

Things aren't so linear,goals and assists alone don't matter-the opponent and the competition matter too. Ronaldo was key in 2016 ucl victory-and euros isn't the same as that 3-4 team Copa.

It's so crazy how Messi was literally the best player for *5* consecutive years (2015,16,17,18,19), had the best stats, but only won the Ballon D'or 2 times out of those 5 years because of lack of trophies, which are won with the help of the whole team, but individually, Messi was the best out of everyone for 5 consecutive years. Pep said it best, the Balon d'Or should have 2 main awards. One for Messi and one for whoever else that was undeniably good that year. Because if we're gonna talk about individual greatness, Messi should have won at least 12 Balon d'Ors by now. His lethality in goals be it scoring or assisting or creating is just so far ahead of everyone else in history. I think he's the only player that has a 20+ G/A for more than 15 years. It gets even more absurd when you think about it and that's just one aspect of his game. His passing is on the same level as Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Scholes, Platini, Modric, Laudrup, Fabregas so the question is, can it be better? I don't think so. Then there's his magical gravity defying dribbles only he can do. To have just one dribble like him in your career would elevate you from world class to legend. But when it comes to Leo? He does it multiple times in a single game in his prime and he still can do those insane moves against world class opponents in his mid 30s (2022 World Cup). The God of Football is an understatement when it comes to Leo. He's just something else entirely. We might all be just hallucinating and that wouldn't surprise me. We saw the greatest thing in football and we're so gonna miss him when he leaves the pitch. Muchas gracias por todo Leo. Thank you for 17 years of sheer divine entertainment. Thank you. 💙❤️

Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or in 2013 because of Messi's injury against PSG, after that he got it for the Champions League wins alone. The award is a sham. Messi's been held up to a much higher standard since - his own performances between 2009-2012. Put anyone else in those comparisons and they'd look distinctly ordinary. It's a shame. If the Ballon d'Or was awarded correctly to the best footballer in the world throughout a 50-60 game season, Messi would be on about 12 of them right now.

not sure if it was from your channel but there was a video called 5 impossible things Messi did, including the hat trick against madrid at 19, the phisically impossible goal against bilbao, his solo goal against madrid in champions semi from 2011 and 5 or 6th ballon dor. If it was yours, why would you take it down? It had this really wonderful music in the backround too. Not some random singer or anything, but just a really beatiful melody. 1. Pele played against actual farmers. The standard of football has gotten so much better it's not even fair to call it a same sport. Defenders back were utter hopeless. They just use aggression. There wasn't any tactical or technicality. Just rough and tumble. Messi played in arguably the best era. It has enough aggression and it was highly tactical. 2. During Pele's time, who knows how many of his goals wouldn't be a goal in today's high tech game. Offsides and hand ball. Modern football is much much harder for the mind because the playing standard is the same no matter where you go, especially in Europe. Pele is great but he's nowhere near Messi. No one is near Messi though.
