To continue my 4th of July special, here's what I believe is the actual premiere (well, at least first-taped) episode of The Nighttime Price is Right with Tom Kennedy.

RIP Tom Kennedy. He did great time hosting Nighttime Price is Right.

I always thought that Tom Kennedy was a great game show host. No matter what he hosted, he always did a great job. If the night time price is right would have lasted longer he would have been great being the permanent host. Also great to see Janice, Dianne Parkinson and of course Holly on these episodes. They were great models. Thanks for posting this 👍.

I was on the Nightime Price is Right in May of 1985. The show # N0081 scheduled to air 10/14/85. TPIR night time show I was on was taped on 5/14/85 (N0081) Does anyone have a copy of that episode? I won the showcase and want a clean version of the show.

I just heard of the passing of Tom Kennedy, he was one of the true game show legends. RIP!!

It's hard for me not to see Tom Kennedy as Robert Culp, who played the murderer in "Death Lends a Hand", the fourth episode of _Columbo_ (1971).

I think the reason this show didn't last is not that it wasn't good, but that it suffered by comparison. Imagine if you could watch Drew Carey hosting the 1-hour daytime version of TPIR, but CBS decided to air a half-hour nighttime version of the show with a different host. I don't think people would watch it, no matter how good the nighttime host is. By this time, the wheel had been a part of the show for 10 years. It's an inseparable icon from the show. You can't have TPIR without the wheel.

I don't understand how this show has lasted 50 years in the daytime but only lasted one season at night. What difference would that make?
