A brand new player, Nimbus, is rolling out this crazy alternative three wheeled and all electric little mighty mouse of a... well, it's not really a car, and it's not really a motorcycle. I guess it's a Nimbus.

I legit am considering buying one after learning about the portable batteries and price. You could essentially buy as many batteries as you want and leave them charging at home. Make your trips, take an extra battery, come home and within 20 seconds , swap the batteries. No waiting, no replanting your trips, no range anxiety!

ICE motors are still extremely useful. They will most likely become common use in EVs as range extenders, to the point of replacing batteries until hydrogen infrastructure is built up. Just consider, a series hybrid powered by a methane microturbine would be significantly more efficient and less pollutant than a conventional ICE vehicle, and would reduce the impact of mining (until we master space mining). Plus you could quickly refill your methane (CNG) tanks

Wow. That's cheaper than my Piaggio MP3 500 when I bought it. I like how it's following the leaning concept like the MP3 and Carver and I would use this to tool around town. I was thinking of an FUV, but it's not enclosed for our WI winters. So I'll be keeping my eye on this an will look for more specs. The wiper looks hella obtrusive.

My commute times are 3:20pm and 2:00am and traffic is scarce on my 1.9 mile route. This thing would be a blast to take to work. At 5:55 on your video, you suggested that the battery options provide a challenge in deciding between them. As soon as you said I could have 50% more speed for a few thousand more, the base model lost all appeal. And then you told us that the batteries are stuck to the car in the good one. This made the decision a no brainer. I'll get something else when somebody figures out what's most important. I just want to be able to travel between Sherman, TX and Durant, OK. Neither of these can do that while allowing the driver to prove that he has some intelligence. If you can make removable batteries work in one, you can think of a way to do the same for the other. I'd say make two pairs and have them parallel as needed upon installation. I'm up for buying the OneS when they make it apartment friendly although I have 120v and 240v from solar in my carport. I could use the S as it is but I won't support someone who could do the right thing but won't.

Sounds good enough once it gets to market. - I like that it is a 2-seater, with an external cargo container (I bet it is going to be an option). - I especially like the idea of being able to rent one (did you say $200 a month?), as I'd likely rent one for perhaps a year before buying it. Less risk that way. My concern is that they have not given a target date, and they have not said how much would A/C (a must have in FL) would cost. By the time I'm able to rent or buy one... chances are that it will be 2025 at least and that the prices will have gone up noticeably from the amounts being given now. Most of these startups always do it.

Do you have any information as far as the voltage of the battery? Based on the size and the weight of the battery, I believe it's running a 48 volt battery bank. I expect to add a solar panel to the storage rack and use a Renogy mppt charge controller with low temperature cut off and a Bluetooth Interface. My low mileage each week would mean that I never pay to recharge. I am customer # 1766, so I have plenty of time to wait for my vehicle to be delivered to me.

One has to think when buying an EV. 1. How far can it go per charge? 2. How fast is this EV? Hopefully, not too fast. 3. How fast can you charge the battery? 4. How safe is this EV? 5. Stability when driving 6. Number of passengers 7. Air conditioning, as it is a necessity in tropical countries like Malaysia. 8. Can it climb a road with a gradient of 25°? 9. In my country (Malaysia), the cheapest gasoline fuel 4 seater car is MYR22,500. Today's currency exchange USD1 = MYR4.66 Your price of Nimbus One EV USD10,000 = MYR46,600 More than double the price of our Perodua Axia price MYR22,500. I believe the manufacturer can reduce the price if it is in mass production. If they don't do it now, they will lose out to China if the latter does it in mass production of the EV China version.

ONE THING I WOULD PICK IS HYBRID APTERA.... BUT SOME ELECTRIC CAR IS A OVERPRICE..
@Raees-Divitiae
@Raees-Divitiae Жыл бұрын
Yep, a hybrid Aptera would be a nice thing to see. EVs are great, but hybrids are kind of the best of both worlds. Sure, they're not as fast, but they're kind of self-sufficient in a power outage crisis. I'll just stick to my mantra of petrol, hybrid, and EV. You have all your bases covered. BTW, I concur on the EV prices jumping up. This would be a Taiwan vs. China thing. It isn't a pretty situation. I'm not going into geopolitics , so I'll just stop here. However, that's why the chips are so pricey.

@fookschool
@fookschool Жыл бұрын
There is no way you can be serious about a hybrid aptera. That is such a stupid idea. You can plug in to any outlet after driving virtually all day and charge up just fine. Did you ever do the math on even the 400mile aptera? Starting with a full charge you can go 1/4 of the way across the country without stopping, assuming you could last that long without pissing your pants. Then with quick charging the aptera can charge at 500miles/hr rates meaning 30minutes of charging gives you easily 4 more hours of driving or generally the time between meals which 1/2 an hour is more than enough time. Clearing 1000miles a day isn't even an issue if you can handle driving literally all day.

Always kinda like the idea. I know Toyota made the Toyota iRoad which is basically the same design, difference is that Toyota doesn't actually sell the iRoad to consumers, it's exclusively a fleet vehicle mainly for rentals in Japan. As far as I know they've never been bought by anyone outside of Japan. But I can also tell Toyota never intended to sell it. While it has that really cool leaning feature, one thing I questioned was how the suspension works in tandem with that, the answer, it doesn't have any. Japan has fairly decent roads, but seating that thing drive over speed bumps looked rough the few times I looked into it. The nimbus looks to be the same as the wheels barely fit in the fenders at full lean, there's just no room for suspension. That means while having AC and heating is more comfortable than a motorcycle, the ride will be far more rough.

Interesting. Even though these 3 wheel EV vehicles are not for me and family situations, all are very unique and are more suited to get around easily for some short daily errands. They are better than motorcycles/motorbikes because of the protective body if it rains and it has 3 tires instead of 2. But Nimbus has not much protection should we get in an accident with these. Only thing I am wondering right now is what is the storage capacity - what can I carry with me??? I like the replaceable batteries - charge one while using one if the batteries are not too expensive- maybe have two batteries. i just do around town anyway being retired, so 93 mile range would be adequate for my needs. 50 mph speed is also adequate for my needs. I don't need a 150 mph Tesla for around town. Questions are: How stable is the Nimbus when turning - could it tip over easily???? Again - storage capabilities??? What are the dimensions of the Nimbus??? Thanks for the video.

@@miracoli16 I'd love to believe that but my wifes not large (130lbs at 5'7") but that back seat looks very restrictive. And with the solid back walls rather than a window... are they going to feel like they are in a dungeon? Don't know if I'd feel safe if I couldnt look out to the side when traveling. Can you imaging a car with no back windows and riding back there? I'd love to love this thing but serious quetions and no reviews in probably a year and those were very limited. Need some with real users telling about the usability of that back seat. Everyone has heard about the 'tilting'... neat but has to be usable.

Thank you but I remain unconvinced. I can get a modern scooter which will take me anywhere I need to go, including on the highway, for example Yamaha Xmax, for about $6k and I'll get 75 mpg and it'll be running in 10 years. In the meantime the electric auto world will be me morphed out of sight and you might be lucky to come across one of these in a museum.

I hoped to learn something new about the Nimbus but I was presented with the same stock video and a lot of speculation, dumb sound track and that stupid distracting cartoon. I have owned the Arcimoto as my only vehicle for 16 months now, looking at Nimbus as a way to get AC for the hot humid tropical rains Florida summer.

oh wow, so these guys either licensed arcimotos patents, or, are buying arcomoto ? Hate to see them go the way of the dodo or the SOLO from electramechanica, as arcimoto has usa patents on the batteries being in the three wheeler and the tilting of the vehicle lmfao, another waste of time because people dont check IP before building a prototype. EM was ok, in canada, then they moved to the usa jan 1, now, the solo is being bought back and is gone lmfao. go nimbus one :)

Some feedback for you: I was happy to begin watching this video but the flaming helmeted skeleton logo is just too intrusive and large and not really necessary. I don't suppose you could 86 it after about 30 seconds? Either way, i'm out of here at 34 seconds in because of it. Good luck with the channel, but for Pete's sake, evolve.

@@GearboxPizza Thanks for not going mental on me. I meant that feedback to be just information as a first time viewer's impression. For me the guy was a complete distraction.
