Very nice where did you place the legs on the base plate, i.e. what angle the front one is straight but the two back one's what angle are they places pointing outwards?????
@MattBerryCustom
@MattBerryCustom 5 жыл бұрын
Good morning, thank you for watching. Good question about the offset angle of the rear legs. I just set them so that when looking at the stand from directly above; the bottoms of the legs didn’t protrude past the sides of the top deck where the anvil sits. This way the anvil can still take all the necessary blows, including lateral ones without the stand moving even a fraction but the legs are still tucked out of the way so you don’t catch your feet on them when moving around the anvil. I hope this answers your very good question, if you need any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Many thanks!

@@MattBerryCustom Thanks for that so at 2:36 in the vid you have marked it so the legs come to the edge is that what you meant.???
@MattBerryCustom
@MattBerryCustom 5 жыл бұрын
No problem! At 2.36 the markings are putting the legs 120 degrees from each other, when I came to weld it I thought the back legs were sticking out to the sides a fraction too much, so I moved them inwards together a little more. Without the anvil on the top deck I looked directly down from above and you can just about see the bottom of the leg where it’s welded to the flat floor plate with the bolt/peg hole. The flat plates then move out past this point increasing stability but not something you will trip over. If you want go to my website www.mattberrycustom.com and use the contact form to send me an email, I can reply with a picture when I get chance if this helps?

Yeah it’s food grade citric acid, most chemists or home brewing shops sell it. Best bang for your buck is EBay though. Leave it to soak for about 45 minutes. Muriatic acid (sold as brick or patio cleaner) is much faster (takes a couple of minutes) but is nasty stuff. Whichever method you use do it well ventilated. Glad you like the sign, gift from the Mrs. She said it sums up my intolerance for most people perfectly 😁

Pretty sure that would also work as a stand for a drill press as well, as it has a nice low centre of mass, so is not too likely to tip over. In addition to the damping all the sand provides as well.

@MattBerryCustom
@MattBerryCustom 2 жыл бұрын
Apologies for the late reply I’ve been away. The size I used was 2”x4” with a 1/4” wall thickness. In my opinion I think 1x2 would be a little under sized and I’d be looking at something near the size I used. I use it and have absolute confidence it’s strong and take whatever hammer blows I deliver, personally I wouldn’t want that gnawing doubt in the back of my mind. Many thanks for watching and enjoy your build. 😊👍🏻
