Self taught 5 hcp,never taught golf but having to teach enthusiastic new GF! not watched set up vid but my take, 99% of Tour Pros set up with their left/lead eye at least looking at the back of the ball or way further back like Jack N but most golfers look at the ball with their right/trail eye,this makes a massive difference to set up Unfortunately the reason for this is that most people are right eye dominant! i hid this discussion a few years ago with my local assist +3 hcp Trey who didnt get it til he realised he was left eye dominant and now hes a star on Sky Sports Golf!

Stu, I've literally watched hundreds of hours of various golf coaches on YT. Although my swing has improved in the last couple of years, it wasn't until I found your channel that everything came together for me and I'm striking with consistency and confidence. Too many online coaches are still talking about hips swaying to the right in the backswing (you effectively debunk that here) and nobody is talking about pulling the handle. Great video and I look forward to watching many more great instructionals from you... not to mention the benefit of time savings as I only need to follow one coach now!

Sir: I have a golfing machine book signed by Mr. Alex Sloan a graduate of the first class of Homer Kelley’s ! He wrote in my book, “There are 446,515,550,000,000,000 swings in this book! That number is 446 Quadrillion 515 Trillion, 550 Billion… that’s quite a huge number to find 1 that works don’t you think? Mind Boggling!

Love it! Makes more sense now especially with the theraband downward pressure on the takeaway. Prior to this video, It was hard for me to feel the right foot pressure (if any) on the initial takeaway as I would immediately start pushing a lot of pressure on to my left foot….thus the question about my head moving down too much. However the ball striking was night and day doing this. I know feel and real are different so maybe I was pushing off the right without knowing. Excited to try this drill and technique on the course today!

just found your channel. best de bunker of swing myths since UK Peter Thompson and Monty Scheinblum. Try this one for size. Used to play off 4 now on 12 handicap. I swing too far inside, have no early extension , but lunge over the top with an aggressive weight shift (not pressure) into the left. Head passes midpoint of body early and driver is such a low left smother hook that its on the ground. How do I PRESSURE SHIFT into left but maintain spine angle and keep head behind the ball?

Gordon - very kind words Sir. Gosh, there could be many elements to your questions of which I would need to know, to give you a one paragraph answer would do you a disservice. Sorry I can’t be of more use, and without wishing to push my coaching, I do offer coaching on Skillest if you feel inclined. Thanks for being part of the channel, and with some further watching, I know you’ll get your answer via my videos. Best wishes Stu 😊

If you check out my “You Must Pull The Club” will give you good insight into foot pressure. Foot pressure isn’t specific to driver.

That swiss-ball move into the lead side makes me think of Hogan's hip movement. Looks similar.

Good movement is akin to so many great swings of the generations; sadly, most golfers haven’t understood how they are derived, I aim to get everyone there. 😊

This video is interesting with the movement of the body using the band and ball against the wall. I am trying to come up with a trigger to start the backswing and find lifting the right hip pelvis while turning back works for me. It also seems to protect my lower right back area. Does this make sense to you and if not, do you have any thoughts or videos on swing triggers to start the swing? Thanks coach Stu🙂
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 11 ай бұрын
Triggers are interesting elements; I would suggest just applying the drill and let the trigger come to you, without having to go searching. These, imho are the most effective and most powerful triggers to start the backswing. Imagine the funky triggers we have seen over the years, pretty sure they weren’t worked on but derived from drills and hard work. Hope that helps Randal. Best wishes Stu 😊

Great video as always! Explaining what you need to feel rather than club positions is so refreshing and I’ve significantly lowered my scores since following you. I’m finally able to hit longer irons since feeling the pressure in the handle! I was wondering if you could please point me toward the video(s) on path. I recently got a swing analysis and was told to swing to the right. I remembered your warning about this but cannot remember which video.

Is the equal and opposite forces for grip or wringing wet towel in hands a force that would disrupt you gripping recommendations? Meaning palm pad use on left hand position compromised with right hand squeezing back and against left hand. Pete cowan is I believe Matt Fitzpatrick’s coach so just wondering….

Can I please ask a question? When pulling the handle is the pull only for the first portion of the downswing to get the club head to start moving or is the pull all the way through impact, continuing low and left?
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 11 ай бұрын
Hi Andy Many thanks for reaching out, really appreciate it. Pulling on the handle must be continuous in your downswing and change with what your intent is. To find out more, watch me “Angle of Attack” video. Be super insightful and answer all your questions. Best wishes Stu 😊

Stuart, another great lesson and explanation. I have a question: in your backswing, as you are pushing back and up, with your trail leg, aren’t you also lifting your upper body a little so that you can then come down, i.e., squat, as you move towards the target? I noticed that watching you from the front, your upper body doesn’t go up, it just goes towards the target. I was always told that you have to go up in order to come down, i.e., squat. Please clarify for me, thanks. Cheers.
