the fact is its a failed ridiculous state even its title "northern Ireland" is misleading as it doesn't even comprise of Irelands most northerly county.The reality is either the Island should have stayed in the UK or have been given full independence.Ian paisley by the way by his admission in an interview only agreed to power share because "they threatened to pull the plug on our country" his words.

Sounds good to me. The Uk doesn't even recognize Wiccan hand fasting (marriage) ceremonies....and Wiccans always have to travel to South Ireland to get married. So Ireland treats us as equals. I say do it! Make Ireland one again.

They kept Donegal out of the statelet,even though it is the largest and most northerly of Ulster and therefore Ireland's counties.

For the preservation of quality public discourse I wouldn't have used the term "reich". If there's anything we've learned in the past few years is that circumstances with self-destructive management will unite Ireland - not rhetoric, grandstanding or adversarial politics. I fully agree with the general assesment but let's not get carried away here - the 2022 election was not a victory for nationalism so much as a strategic defeat for contemporary unionism. SF stood still, the SDLP lost support while the Alliance hoovered up the fragments of pro-European/pro-Protocol unionism.

North Ireland is not about religion anymore we have Muslim children Jewish people Hindu religion Orthodox religion and even got the hari Krishna's so it's about peace now

As a member of the legal profession and a Barrister, Mr. Brolly knows the power of words and language, and how to flex it. The comment is incendiary, for we purport to reach across the divide to find common ground for all through respect for our differences. Otherwise, enjoyable commentary as always.

@@Sean-sn9ld - Google says "realm". That is much less loaded language in an area where the subtleties of language can be so divisive and stir up emotion. Reich is a word with connotations that we're both perfectly aware of and it's use is far from helpful whether it's technically correct or not.

Joe on his usual DUP rant. Goes down well with Irish media but gets boring after awhile. We need to respect the views of all parties in the North and where they have concerns try an address them. As John Hume said it's all about parity of esteem. In recent election 39% of people voted for nationalist parties, 40% voted for unionist parties and the rest for middle ground. This has been the way of it over a number of elections
