You can't knock Stroud Green Rd with its trendy shops and great restaurants now day's and few great pubs and wine bars also . Times have moved on since the Finsbury Park Tavern and George Robeie with prostitutes on the corners , mind you Blackstock rd is still like the old days still a crap hole.

@@originalherdsman3524 No, sorry, that passed me by. I lived in Essex and came up to the Smoke for work & to get rare discs... For reggae it was Pauls, Fatman HiFi in Tottenham, a record shop in Ridley Rd. market (opposite where the Four Aces club was), and for soul, funk & blues it had to be Contempo in Hanway Street just behind Oxford Street & Tottenham Ct Rd. Contempo would get rare, hard to find American soul imports... My only other knowledge of Finsbury Park / Seven Sisters was driving through it occasionally to get to work at St Pancras.

@@1658iain i thought you meant the little record shop opposite Finsbury Park tube as i used to buy my lovers rock from there back in the day. I used to go 4 Aces as well so i know where you mean, used to buy my shoes from Grant's shoe shop on Kingsland Rd to go with the Gabicci and slacks. 😅😂 showing my age now.

@@originalherdsman3524 That was the record shop- "Paul for Music" A tiny little record shop. I was invariably served by a little old lady- who I think smoked. Fatmans HiFi was also a must for rare reggae imports. Those wonderful old labels... dip, FAMS, Sydna, Cactus, HarryJ, Tropical, Top Notch, Classic Roots, Greensleeves, Coxsone, Studio1and not to forget Trojan! I saw Rupie Edwards, Toots & The Maytals, Skin, Flesh & Bones, Sharon Forrester, Al Brown, Dennis Brown among others at a Jamaica Show Case at the Rainbow in 1974! Still got the ticket... £2.00!!
