@ShopaholicDeb832 So true! Same here, 20 years next year with my high-school sweetheart. And just like the notebook, we have lots of and lots of downs. But we always work it out. I look forward to growing old with my man. It's sad that it's so rare nowadays. Society made it so easy to just walk away when it gets just a little hard. They keep searching for a fairytale relationship. Those don't exist. Real true love is hard, very hard, but very much worth the hard work. ❤

I just was reading about a couple in Ohio. Who was married for 70 years. Did everything together. They thought they had colds. They had Covid-19. Went into hospital. Just started getting worse every day. Their children had the staff move them in to the same room. They were holding hands, she passed away first. With in minutes the nurse told her husband. That was wife was waiting for him so it was okay to go. And he passed about 3 minutes after her. In heaven still in love.

My Wife would always watch this movie on tv and I would catch parts of it here and there and it was always interesting to me despite it being a typical chick flick lol. Once I sat down to see the entire movie it was very captivating and hits you hard especially if your in a relationship with someone that you genuinely care about. Were all going to get old someday and you hope your spouse is there with you in your end days to keep you comfortable and to be with eachother.

Notebook turns 20! This is still the best Nicholas Sparks adaptation Out of all his other romance novels this is the only one that's stood out the most thanks to director Nick Cassavetes It was also my first introduction to Ryan Gosling It's the most innocent kind of love story involving a poor boy and a rich girl The chemistry of the leads Gosling and Rachel McAdams is impeccable despite these two reportedly being at each other's throats during the shoot, the story has such a sweet nature to it, all the actors deliver their parts, and the music is utterly beautiful The time period acts more like a backdrop than the main focus but it sells it as a fantasy that works Even Joan Allen as Allie's mother is given a deep understanding of why she is towards her daughter's romance so negatively There's also lots of themes about eternal love, how much we can't bear to abandon those closest to us, sometimes it's never over, you never forget your first, it's never easy because you have to work at it everyday, it's important to stop thinking about what others want and instead what we want There's also no shortage of tears when it comes to this type of story, the kissing scene in the rain is the most iconic And there's quite a dramatic twist at the end given this is being told by an old man in an old folks home to another elderly woman who suffers from dementia It helps that Sparks draws inspiration from a real couple to sell the romance The film is about love in all kinds of forms from its humble beginnings to its inevitable decline whether through just over a summer or social divide However you feel about the romance being sappy you can't deny the movie's impact on pop culture influence even Noah's heartfelt speech being memed about to death In spite of the flaws that are present 'The Notebook' succeeds in its sentimentality believing in miracles as well as divine intervention It's the kind of romance you want if you're brave enough to go after it

Like Allie, I had this long-time crush (grade school to junior high) whom I finally dated in senior high. Let's call him Noah. I transferred to the city when I completed junior high school so I had no contact with Noah for about 1 1/2 years. The pandemic hit and I went back to the province to stay away from the populous city and I met Noah there once again. We dated for 4 months when my family got sick of me getting home late every time I go out with him. I know they don't like him since he performs poorly at school while I was always at the top of the class. The thing is, Noah lives solely in the 'NOW'. He has no definite plan for the future, just the ultimate goal of "being happy" and stable. But for me, I would like to study well and travel the world. When my family talked to me about thinking through things with Noah, of course, I thought of my future. No offense, but unlike Allie, I consider my future very carefully. With Noah, I'd probably stay in the province, getting pregnant every year and just stay in debt with my parents or relatives. If I use my brain, I'd probably finish college and find a job that's able to make me and my family survive and get maybe a little more comfortable than the way it is now. To cut the story short, my version of Noah got married last month and yes I am single but I also am one step closer to getting the degree I've always wanted. To all the girls (and guys), think carefully about your future and don't just "follow your heart", at least listen to it and consider what your brain says. Maybe you are not seeing it now, but if you follow my advice, you'll be happier in the long run.

Lil' Abner was not released until late 1959 so it was not actually in theaters during the summer when Noah and Allie see it. It's the movie they watched on their first date. Google says that the movie wasn't released til late 1940 which isn't true and the notebook is set in 1946 if they are saying that to go along with the decade of the movie then it fits but yeah it actually came out 1959 I love it when she's like why didn't you write me? And that it wasn't over for me I waited for you for seven years and now it's too late he said I wrote you 365 letters I wrote you every day for a year meaning there was definitely a he says it wasn't over it still isn't over this is one of my favorite scenes with them and when he says I want all of you forever you and me every day like aw

What a trailer. Spoils the whole damn movie. Might as well shown the end credits as well.
