One thing I really love about this song is that the guy on the phone is doing everything right. He stays on the phone, keeps Biggie talking, asks him if he has someone over there, and heads over to Big's place, even says he'll call him back when he's in the car - and all of this despite the fact that he's very clearly tired, unprepared, and overwhelmed. I don't know who that guy is but he's a really good friend.

Depression is real. This song is very powerful, and i believe everyone should listen to it. I just turned 29, and i have a benzo addiction to deal with my depressions and anxieties. My advice for anyone feeling suicidal is please try to find what makes you happy in life. Easier said than done, but i promise you if there is a will there is a way. @@paddyopatrick2941 please get some help. it might start with hurting yourself and then it progresses more and more and then maybe one day you actually do it. i just had a breakdown, i got a good memory and i’m calmer now. tbh i had a breakdown the other day too and wrote a will/manifesto for my family.. i can’t recognize how deeply i felt in that moment if i don’t feel it right now, if you get what i mean. i have bpd. so it gets really intense and then i feel fine. but anyway, please talk to someone, get on some medication please. i love u internet stranger, please take care of yourself… do not take it lightly.

Perfect way to end such a haunting yet amazing album. From the birth of Biggie in the hospital on the intro, to his suicide on this final track, the whole Ready to Die album is like listening to his progression through life. This song is what made me a Biggie fan. I never knew rappers were as depressed as I am. He straight up put his deepest darkest secrets out there. This track ain't for everyone, but it's for the ones that get it and understand that dark place that your mind can go to. This track has always been there for me when I needed it the most. I know you have saved a lot of lives with your honesty on this track.

Honestly, it’s Puff’s adlibs that make the whole thing for me. I’ve never dealt with someone actively ready to commit suicide, but I have had to talk to people who were considering it; the whole scenario that this song paints is a fucking nightmare to me, out of nowhere, middle of the night, the active threat of death to someone that I love dearly- it’s horrific. The growing anxiety, stress and concern in Puff’s voice, Puff getting into his car to head over to Biggie ‘ayo, I’m on my way over there’, his pleas ‘talk to me, please’. Anxiety mounts to terror when Biggie pulls the trigger, and that’s the worst part about the whole scenario- realistically, all you have to save someone in that position is your words. Unless you live right next to them, you probably won’t be able to reach them in time. All of these adlibs make this shit so much heavier to me. This shit is so damn morbid. And by god is it magnificent.

Suicide is a permanent "solution" to temporary problems; suicide is never the answer. Problems that seem so overwhelming today will be looked back upon years later as virtually meaningless. Often, the hard times in our lives, when things may seem hopeless, are really opportunities to learn valuable lessons such as humility, dependence on God, the value of prayer, or to learn how to help others who are suffering. People suffer because they have a human observation without a biblical interpretation. They see the world and then they are consumed with what they see. They come up with their own rationales, and then they come up with their own conclusions, and then they can’t figure out why life is so miserable and they see life as this never-ending problem that they can’t handle, and don’t want to deal with. they haven’t come to understand that there is an evil that exists in this world But yet, there’s a good God who is greater than the evil that is in this world. What these people have not come to understand is yes, people will turn on you. Yes, there will be downcast times. Yes, there will be disappointments. There will be difficulties. Yes, the world can be troublesome. But there is a God who controls everything. There’s a God who has their past, their present, their future in His hands. If they’re willing to submit to God who will deliver them from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, to a new and right relationship with Him, that they may know Him become like Him, and be useful to Him, they will find that life is way different. John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” The thief - the devil - seeks to steal joy, kill hope, and destroy. But In Christ, we have peace, hope of a better future, that He will care for the faithful in this life, and eternal joy forever in Heaven. If you have sunk so low in life that you have a total loss of hope then there is no better time to turn to Jesus. He can save you, not only from your sins, but also from sadness, depression, anguish, affliction or trouble. That hope is not wishful thinking but is based on God’s promise to remove the causes of our pain. God can give you both inner peace and the strength to keep going. I know this to be true. I have experienced His saving grace many times. And not only can He save, but He can restore any situation, He can fix any problem, He can take away your shame and disgrace. No matter how dark the situation, no matter how hurt the heart, the Lord is always nearby to support, uplift, and love that believer! Call out to the Lord, and ask for Him to draw closer. and pour out your heart in prayer. There is no place that we can travel in our disobedience that is too far for God to reach a repentant sinner. there is rejoicing in God’s presence when those who are lost repent and are made right with God. Luke 12:6-7 "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows."

I’ve lost a few close friends to suicide and literally had a call like this I’ve never heard this before now this shit touched my soul more than anything literally the when I die I want to go hell because I don’t deserve paradise is one of the last things I ever heard from my closest friend I did everything I could and he’s still gone art is supposed to hurt this is fucking art

That's rough man. As someone who's been real real real close to ending it, been on many meds and dropped 4 stacks on ketamine therapy, and continues to wake up to suicidal thoughts daily, it was not your fault and there was nothing you could have done to make it better.

This is EASILY the most accurate depiction of suicidal thoughts. The way his thoughts spiral down into more and more grim reasons to do it, he's justifying his own death with less and less credible lyrics that shine light into his insecurities. No other piece of media even comes close, It's the most accurate recreation of what's going through the mind of someone doing this. Biggie is one of the greats for a reason, this track proves it in less than 3 minutes.
