Episode 20: The Nuremberg Chronicle
Greetings, folks! On this episode of Bookworm History we talk about the history of the Liber Chronicarum, more commonly known as the Nuremberg Chronicle. Printed in Nuremberg in 1493, this world history is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful books ever printed owing to its copious and intricate illustrations.
You can find a wonderful hand-colored scan of the Chronicle at the University of Cambridge’s website: cudl.lib.cam.ac.uk/view/PR-INC...
For more on the Chronicle’s history check out “The Making of the Nuremberg Chronicle” by Adrian Wilson. It’s out of print, but copies can still be found floating around the internet.

This was amazing, and thank you so much for the information. A German Professor in my local Town recently passed away and I was willed his book collection and in it was a Nuremberg Chronicle that looks a little older than the one you're holding up at the beginning but it is in perfect condition. The Collection also has the making of the Nuremberg Chronicles. I absolutely love the book and I was wanting to know more history about it. I have to admit my German is a little bit rough and my Latin is non-existent so reading it would have been a daunting task. A task however I hope to accomplish someday. Thank you so much again
