At the beginning of this year the IMO and its members (incl all global operating cargo carriers ) adopted a much anticipated new standard of low-sulphur fuel that will reduce the co2 emission and pollution drastically from those big ocean ships, the cost is $ 10-12 BN across the industry just in 2020. This will be passed to the customers on a TEU/Ton level initially, until market level adjusts. It also increased the share of the even 'cleaner' LNG powered ships, as it's ROI becomes more feasible.
