Amazing how Gervais was adamant that they would stop before it got stale, and it was clearly still working effortlessly at this stage, and could have easily gone on. A pity he did not have the same sensibilities with the flimsy After Life which was struggling at the end of the first season and desperate by season 3. Gervais needs to reconnect with Merchant - whose own show The Outlaws is equally poor - or call it a day.
