@@chrisjames6327 Yes. The Late Film Critic Gene Siskel bought it at Auction. He admitted he felt like a geek but when he tried it on, he felt so cool. Back in the day "That" was the Suit that so many guys wanted to wear. Maurice White (RIP) of Earth Wind & Fire wore it on the Dance Show American Bandstand when they sang Serpentine Fire, and Hugh Hefner (Playboy Magazine), wore it at one of his Parties in the 1970's.

The beauty of The Office is that in scenes like this it manages to make us feel sorry for Brent and somewhat hate Neil for firing him. Although Brent really does deserve to be sacked and Neil was just doing his job. But the difference between the characters is that Brent is so insecure and vulnerable that it makes him pitiful and sad, no matter how much of an arse he can be. Whereas Neil is confident in himself and shows no vulnerability, which makes us see him as a bully to Brent because we know that Brent probably had very few friends at school, whereas Neil probably had many. The Office is such a masterpiece.

It is sad simply because it finally dawns of David who he really is. He's obviously terrible at his job, but he knows for all his waffle he actually can't do anything else. His job is all he has. He has no family, no friends, no real skills or education to speak of. The cognitive dissonance finally subsides, and he realizes he's not going to be this great entertainer. This is a good example of cut throat management. You're not really an individual, you're simply a number on a balance sheet. A disposable asset. Jennifer is your typical corporate manager; soulless, emotionless and ruthless. Whereas, Neil pretends to be the charming type (all smiles), but no different to Jenifer. This is one of the reasons why I don't personalize my job or take it for granted. Your CV should always be up to date.

As hilarious as this is, the fact that Brent has convinced himself of how many people love him ("I'd love to see you tell that lot out there, cos you will have a mutiny on your hands" etc,) is actually extremely sad. The pathos in this show is very strong, and it works. It's absolutely perfect.

Yes the American version tried to capture that essence of drudgery and peoples individual quirks and egos but it’s an English show and nothing quite captures that bored working class versus middle management vibe in the office quite like the original. It did more than make people laugh. It touched people. I just didn’t get that feeling off the American one but felt like it tried hard to. What I love most about the office is the fact that they don’t let a low budget ruin it. The beauty is in the script.

I ended up rewatching The Office and I forgot how stunning she really is. Now she's become a LGBT Icon as Paula Cunliffe Martin on Coronation Street. I wasn't ready for The Bird Costume. Are there any clips of her in Little Britian.

The funny thing is later on in the xmas special it turns out that Davids job wasn’t at risk so they made him redundant for no reason and had to change the name of what becomes Gareths job in the end.
@jamesatkinsonja Жыл бұрын
They made him 'redundant' because he was rubbish at the actual job and had to go.
