It's different. I really enjoyed the US version. The UK Office is a masterpiece where they actually pulled off the idea of the series looking like a documentary. The US version (and the German one aswell) were over the top but very funny!

This is kinda what makes David Brent acceptable, I feel like. I mean, he’s really awful isn’t he? He doesn’t know when to quit, can’t read the room, lacks social skills and is beyond cringe… but there’s some weird charm in there somewhere and he’s really trying. You can’t help but like some of his catchy songs here. He gives you a bit of something to like but then takes it away in one word or look. Ricky did something amazing creating this character

@@KathySong1 There’s a part of Ricky in David Brent. Brent is an awful manager. But that’s because he has no place in management. He’s really an entertainer at heart and he’s been dragged down the wrong career path. He would’ve started at the bottom but then been elevated to “team leader” (like Gareth), due to his arse-kissing inherent in his entertainer persona, and then given more responsibility. If Brent wasn’t a manager; he’d be a lot more likeable. Even if he was just another shlub in the office like Tim. He’s a bit of a self-obsessed arsehole inherently, but he’s harmless. Being a manager exposes his flaws and shortcomings as a human,

I think your whole audience must be from the UK now! I used to watch this channel all the time, pre-British invasion. 😁 I like some of the clips, love David Mitchell... been keeping an eye on you this whole journey waiting for you to return from over the pond, but I just can't follow anymore. Hi, brilliant as usual mate. Has anyone suggest the "The Thick of it" to you it has Peter Capoldi, (Doctor Who) as the foul mouthed head of communications (spin doctor) to the Prime minister. Series 3 and 4 are the best. Give it a look. Alway love watching you posts. kind regards Jono UK.

Oh yeah this TV series was easily the best that came out of the UK ~20 years ago. The best thing that had come out for a while. The only thing that had come close was the Royle family.

Great reaction. Gervais has the team bonding exercises down to a T. They are cringey but whilst he takes it to a different level it’s still believable. There are people out there like Brent…and Gareth.

No that’s not true. While I don’t find the US series as funny as the original; it’s still a good and very funny show in its own right.

@@danieleyre8913 it's shit, and the only reason it drags on for so many seasons is because American shows are always dragged out for as long as possible to extract maximum profit. The UK series finished strong, and left audiences wanting more. That's how you do it.

@@MrSporkster Ah no. It’s only BBC comedies that have the luxury of having short runs. Because the BBC is publicly funded with taxes and a nonsense “license and fee”. ITV comedies drag-on no better than American series do, because they have to stand on their own two feet and make the most of their investments. The US office was not “shit” it was a damn funny programme and has plenty of fans across the world including in the UK; you’re just affecting a pantomime of the UK being “superior at comedy”. Gervais & Merchant had big parts in creating its first series anyway.

@@thegirlinquestion they did the same with The Walking Dead. It started off as a tense drama, but by season 5 it had become a full blown soap opera with no clear aim or resolution in sight. Ever since then, they've just been thrashing a long dead corpse.
