I was a teacher then and I'm a teacher now. In many ways kids are kids are kids, but in some interesting and scary ways today's kids are so different that they could be regarded as a different species. And no, they are definitely NOT alright. Their parents are the kids in this film clip.

@@clacclackerson3678 “The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. "Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offspring captures the essence of our collective struggle, echoing louder in today's world. We were those kids, and it seems the cycle continues with conditions worsening for the next generation. But amidst the chaos, rock and metal have always been our glue, the powerful force that held us together. These genres are more than music; they're a community, a form of resistance, and a source of strength. As we navigate these turbulent times, let's remember the bond that rock and metal have forged among us. They've been our solace, our rallying cry, and our call to unity. Let's lean on that unbreakable bond, support one another, and continue to be the change we've always sought. Together, with rock and metal as our anchor, we can weather any storm.

This, and “Time of Your Life” are the two best bittersweet pop punk songs about growing up. “Kids” is a reflective anthem about adult life hitting you hard after the simple happiness of youth, and “Time” is more about looking ahead and embracing change. Friends actually killed themselves, smoked weed and were unemployed. That's how it is. I decided a few years ago to become the master of my own destiny. Everyone is responsible for getting themselves out of their own mess. Pull yourselves together and blame YOURSELVES. You can do it.... we are all gonna make it brah, that's it.

For those wondering: Russian cover artist makes covers of various rock songs. his latest song was "The offspring - the kids aren't alright". Because of the dedication of his fans, they decided to invade original videos, and post comments along the lines of "listening to this after Tapok's cover", and "thank you for reminding me of what nostalgia feels like". On behalf of Russian community, I would like to apologize to the inconvenience we caused you. Edit: I am glad I was able to help several people with this.

Lyrics When we were young, the future was so bright Woah-oh The old neighborhood was so alive Woah-oh And every kid on the whole damn street Woah-oh Was gonna make it big and not be beat Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn Woah-oh The kids are grown up, but their lives are worn Woah-oh How can one little street swallow so many lives? Chances thrown Nothing's free Longing for, used to be Still it's hard, hard to see Fragile lives Shattered dreams (go!) Jamie had a chance, well, she really did Woah-oh Instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids Woah-oh Mark still lives at home 'cause he's got no job Woah-oh He just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot Jay commited suicide Woah-oh Brandon OD'd and died Woah-oh What the hell is going on? The cruelest dream, reality Chances thrown Nothing's free Longing for, used to be Still it's hard, hard to see Fragile lives Shattered dreams (Go!) Chances thrown Nothing's free Longing for (what), used to be Still it's hard, hard to see Fragile lives Shattered dreams

This song is a textbook example of good songwritting. Every 4 measures the storytelling from the lyrics goes deeper and deeper, avoids sounding redundant and keeps adding tension for the chorus to be expected and it hits just on time so the message from it hits harder each time and the melodic elements like the bass line, the guitar solos and riffs are simple and effective, very well implemented.

Offspring, i hate to say, can be formulaic with their music however, as you said, textbook. Rhyme, meter, verse, chorus and refrain. And their music is just great and still holds up decades later.

@@devild1986 Every song follows a formula whatsoever, but I get what you mean. Still, I think that whether you follow a more conventional song structure or not each section must collide properly, let's say there's a song that wants to "be different" and add a pre-verse that doesn't fit, in that case I'd rather listen to a more conventional song in terms of structure, but well implemented.

I used to like this song in my teens because it sounded sick and catchy, now I'm 35 and it gives me goosebumps. when your young and have the whole world Infront you don't realise the kind of shit you're going to see or fall into, how fast people around you change, falling into the pits and ruts of life sometimes never to be seen again. This song has a whole new feeling to me now, it still sounds sick, it's just more morose.

As kid i never understood this song however as an adult now i truly understand it now more then ever. This song will always be relevant no matter how old it is. Yeah I think most of us fell through the cracks. School just wants to to graduate, they don’t care as much if you cheat or not on tests. They just want to get themselves a good score so they can get more money. Teachers are crushed by the amount of work, student behavior, educational board requirements, im sure there’s more. Parents just want to see you succeed. But they won’t tell you how to. Or teach you how to bc that’s the “schools job” I think there is a fundamental disconnect between parents, school boards and teachers. I think it’s safe to say that Americans schools are useless when it comes to getting kids, teens and young adults ready for the “real world” It’s no wonder people fail hard after high school or college.

Stay strong won't you, YT comments isn't usually the greatest place esp. when you're feeling fragile but honestly things can and will improve... I'm 40 now, was in my early 30's when I finally got that "spark" that kicks off things getting on track. Until then I'd gone from being young and hopeful in my teens/early 20s to spending about 12 years jaded and smoking a lot of heroin and crack (fear of needles saved my life there!) but things are so much better now. trust me, no matter how down you are and how bad shit gets you just never can ever know what's around the corner. Was just coming to the comments to say this tune somehow always puts me in mind of Chester Bennington, even having it all can't cure a depressive personality, but sometimes it takes very little at all to help out. hopefully this comment helps even one person to just keep on keeping on and not taking the permanent way out. Peace and love.

RIP to my friend and teammate James Green. He had everything going for him. I'll never forget attending a Milwaukee Brewers tryout camp and they kept him until the very end. A true talent. He could've easily made it to the show but his life was tragically cut short. This song will always remind me of him. See you soon Big Green.

To all the people expressing their grief over how kids still aren't alright: don't miss the fact that it's punk, not some sad ballad. And what it means to me is that if kids aren't alright, we should all stand up and fight for them instead of simply diagnosing the problem 🫵

On one hand, this is a super catchy song about a subject that's realistic much like Hey Ya - The Outkasts. On the other, it doesn't use much imagery or introspection the way songs like Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd or Black - Pearl Jam do. Although there are absolute masterpieces like Hotel California - Eagles, I think this is one of the many songs that ages well due to its concentrated focus on a single potent concept.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Psalm 57 King James Version 57 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. 2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. 3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. 4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. 5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. 6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. 8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. 9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. 10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. 11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
