I'm in Carmarthen right now listening to this :) always lifts my spirits

I'm from near Swansea but I love Carmarthen. I'm a fluent Welsh speaker and I feel more at home in west wales than where I live and I've worked at the schools there. Carmarthen is not too big, not too small and an amazing history as far back as the romans and the monks Lots of boutique shops and close to the sea and the hills of our fathers. I was gutted when the Uno shop closed. I loved the ambience, browsing the jewelry and sniffing the candles while everyone would literally be whispering if they needed to speak. Something really special about that place! Carmarthen has got it all.

I was surprised that the lyrics were in English, but the clue was right there in the title.

Great video. I was born in Carmarthen many years ago and rarely go back. Only a town council with such a long history of stupidity, and cultural and environmental vandalism (just look at the state of the castle and the hideous county offices right in the middle - to mention only the most obvious) would move the remains of the Merlin oak to a museum for a roundabout - and then put up a little tree in a tub as a replacement. The place deserves to fall down.

I didn't realise Ar Log had recorded this in Foreign as well (I wore out the tape of Ar Log III with Yr Hen Dderwen Ddu on it when I was a kid). I have to say I think this is better than Frank Hennessey's original version, but as Coynantman Thomas has said, it's definitely better sung in proper (Yr Hen Dderwen Ddu).
