But im still frequent sa mall jan cardiologist ko sa 3rd flr.

Ah Rockwell of my sweet memories. My ex-GF works near Rockwell back in the day. Kaya kapag sinusundo ko sya dyan sa Power Plant ang punta namin para kumain o manood ng sine, or in spots that I didn't saw in your coverage. Perhaps they are no longer there, outside the mall like there's a big tent on the center (with a tennis court, i think) and a McDonalds, Brothers Burgers and Santis. How can I forget. We lived in Makati on J. Rizal street close to the Rockwell Power Plant in the 70s and I had an Uncle who worked at the plant at the time as well - the area has changed so much since then, it's unrecognizable now

Thank you sir Fern i grow up sa poblacion very near the rockwell plant is the house of my lolo and lola i remember the day they putting out the fire i think thats the day yon mga amercanong fireman na ang pumapatay ng sunog, kasi the fire is still on blase for how many days na. When the american turn it was a big fire bomb na napakainit i remember napahiwalay ako sa parents ko sa road while were going to my lolas, NAGTAGO ako sa ilalim ng car dahil nakakapaso yong init at that time when they putting out the fire and after that big burst the fire was out. At hinahanap ako ng mother ko at pinigot pa ako noon makita ako dahil napahiwalay ako. Thanks again!

I vividly remembered the explosion at the Rockwell plant in 1973. From our home at BF Homes, I remembered hearing a loud boom early in the morning whilst having breakfast. It burned for several days before the fire was put out. I have never been to Rockwell to see what it looks like now but through YB, I see that it has blossomed into a nice and affluent neighborhood.

Thank you for this video. It brought me back a few memories when I used to work in one of the office bldgs in Rockwell, Makati for a short period of time. I would take my lunch break inside The Rockwell Mall. Medyo expensive ang mag-work sa Rockwell Makati especially when it comes to eating place/ resto selections, kasi in my knowledge walang mga affordable "carinderias" within the vicinity. Meron canteen sa loob ng Powerplant Mall, I think sa Level 6 parking yata yun na nagseserve ng medyo affordable meals pero compared to the usual carinderias eh a bit expensive pa rin ang price dun hehe. Madalas sa Jollibee ako naglalunch, kaya malaki ang gastos ko pagdating pa lang sa food expense. although may mga fastfood resto sa loob ng mall, eh mas marami pa rin ang mga fine dining or casual dining resto that mostly caters to "rich people." In my own opinion, simple lng nman at wala nman masyadong special or bongga about sa Rockwell Mall, maliban sa halos high-end na mga shops na makikita mo sa loob. And also, mapapansin mo na karamihan sa mga namimili or mga tao na nagpupunta sa Rockwell Mall ay mga yayamanin hehe mga tipong "class A to class B people."

After the major fire, the city government have deemed it urgent to remove and relocate power plants in the cities because of the risk it poses. So, even Tegen Station (in Manila) was also demolished after Rockwell. Let me add, that the semi-circular and glass-cladded building is the Rizal Tower, tallest buulding way back in 2000 and where the biggest Philippine flag was hung. "Rizal Tower is a residential skyscraper ranked officially as the 37th tallest building in the Philippines since 2000. It has 47 stories. Fern you brought back my childhood memories, I used to live across the power plant, particularly in Bel Air village before moving to Dallas, TX and California .As a generation X teenager of the 90's. the powerplant mall and condominium units were not even constructed, my friends and I used to illegally cross the power plant to hunt snakes, lizards and partake on mischievous boyhood stuff. Such as Halloween parties with girls. Then they started building the mall and center offering discounted price to bel ain't residents . FYI Paralumen the legendary gorgeous actress was a former barangay chairwoman of bel air. we still maintain one of our ancestral homes in bel air and other subdivisions in makati, please cover forbes as well.
