All of the arvanites and half of modern albanians (tosks) looks like greeks, while the northen albanians (ghegs) looks like northen europeans or slavs. We have not enough sources of illyrian language (at least i have not found anything) to say that the modern albanian its an illyrian dialect, but we know 100% that the albanian language have a lot of latin and greek words, many phrygian, (Phrygians were not illyrians), slavic and turkic words The black eagle with red background (the albanian flag) was byzantine war- flag. That means that the medieval albanians feel byzantine. Plus, the modern albania was the cradle of the dorians (ancient greek tribe), so that means the southern illyrians and greeks were cousins. I don't hate albanians, but stop try to convert us (arvanites) in to albanians, all of the arvanites that i know feel 100% greeks and 0% albanians, we proved how greeks we feel by fighting the albanians in 1821 for greece. @@ervissakolli573 The greek politics never manage to "hide" the arvanitic culture, the arvanitic culture still exist and no one try to hide it. The arvanites didnt fight for greece because they were just orthodox, they were feel greeks, thats why they were use ancient greek names to honor their ancestors, one of the greek revolutionary were called "laskarina bouboulina" (woman) and was an arvanites captain of a war-ship, and she named the ship "Agamemnon" to honor she's greek ancestors. So the arvanites DIDN'T fight for greece just because they were orthodox, they were feel 100% greeks as well. We don't know enough things about the Pelagians, we only know that was a pre-greek population that once lived in the modern greece area, some ancient historians says that were the ancestors of greeks and some others says that they were barbarians (non-greeks). The arvanites looks like greeks, and thats a FACT, if you want go check the arvanites of 1821 they are brunette with mediterranean features, just like other greeks. I have see a lot of albanians and most of them have northern european characteristics (blue eyes, yellow hair, white skin e.t.c) The answer of "why the ancient greek language is close to albanien language" is that the albanian language its a homeric greek dialect (homeric period 850 b.c.) that mixed with latin and palaeobalkan language's, that's why. I dont have problem with albanians, i have some albanian friends and they are good persons. As isokrates once said "every one that have greek education is greek" I have greek education, i speak greek, i have greek consciousnesses so thats makes me 100% greek. Peace.

Explain to me the why two different outcome between arberesh and Arvanitas, even though they are the same ethnic branch. Ofcourse the Arvanitas would claimed the Greek identity since they were the frontal offense against the Turks. It came naturally to them, to identify with pan- graecism and embrace the identity instead of letting the glory to Fanariots and other Asia minor greeks emigrants. In the mind of the European nobility and the reality of the time, they were the epitome of Greek element, since they had all the noble attributes of being considered Greek.
