Not going to lie when I was younger I watched stomp the yard and fr realized how cool these types of fraternities are. It really shows a brotherhood that’s more than just drinking and partying. I can’t wait to actually see something like that when I get there. This is truly amazing.

@Hieronymous Ray while that maybe be true, they still got a degree from Auburn, you don’t know what they’re majoring in/ how seriously they take the activity. They could be just doing it for fun and not planning on putting it in a job resume. Colleges literally have anime and Pokémon clubs so this isn’t a big deal. People literally put normal white frat leadership positions on their resumes so what’s the difference.

@@hiimanhuman Its called stepping, it's a type of African American percussive dancing that has roots from kongo drumming and was inspired both by hip hop dancing and by the stono rebellion, the deadliest slave revolt in the USA. Since drums were banned after this rebellion, African American slaves had no choice but to rely on their own feet and hands to imitate the sound of drums. This dance also had roots in African American military, and in a way can be viewed as a sort of battle dance.

I'm lost as to why this came up in my notifications. But I probably thumbed down the original comment. This whole section is a waste. These men are s group of brothers doing a ceremonial thing, like a ritual thing. Nothing too major to gripe about and here cone the useless religious minded types with their stupidity. Take it from me, if you want to, as a person whose probably danced for Jesus more than any of you, Jesus is not real. But believe what you will, either way leave these brothers alone. You mad you don't belong to anything?

Hey brothers, just curious, do you have to be african American to join something like this, I'm indigenous Australian but got a white dad, the only way you can really tell I'm mixed is my hair and skinny ankles, but I was looking to do a year abroad and want to be not only the first aboriginal to make it to an ivy league university as a person studying law, but I also want to be the first person in my family to break the cycle through academics and this kind of stuff is inspiring to me.

Not an alpha, but I'm in another NPHC org and we are welcoming to all types of people
@CierraJohnson-bh4mc10 ай бұрын
African American here, and do you mean the place or the dance? If the place, many people can join. If the dance, Stepping can be learned by anyone, we just would love if it's done with respect and understanding of it's roots. And since you are aboriginal, welcome, we African Americans relate to you guys 😊
