Follow the legendary Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards 🦅 on a journey through Olympic history. Michael David Edwards, known as Eddie the Eagle, made history in 1988 as the first British 🇬🇧 competitor in Olympic ski jumping since 1924. Although he finished last in both the normal hill (69.2 points) and the large hill (140.4 points), his indomitable spirit left a lasting mark on the Olympic legacy.

Eddie really embodies the spirit of the Olympics. No, not that 'higher, faster, stronger' business, but what Pierre de Frédy, the founder of the Olympics, said : "The important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win, but to take part; the important thing in life is not triumph, but the struggle; the essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

What's amazing is that he is the only athlete any of us remember from those Olympics. I would still hate skiing and it's privilege if it were not for "Eddie the Eagle" and his bravery.

Hated by his fellow competitors because he became more famous than them and rhe star attraction in ski jumping . Which eventually led to him being banned and raising qualifying standards so he couldn't qualify
