One thing i didnt mention. I highly advise carrying a pistol IN CONJUNCTION WITH this system. It doesnt not really make sense as a rapid deployment weapon. use your CCW find cover/safety then deploy the backpack gat. or at least thats what makes sense to me!

Hey Micah. I am a deputy sheriff and my primary assignment is at one of our local schools. I’ve used the Fold AR for a little over a year. I use the 16” version. My experience has been very good overall the rifle. It has held zero with both ball and duty ammo. Whatever zero shift there is has been minimal. It was well within the limits of my ability to hold the rifle still. The only issue I had was some undergassing with my .223 duty ammo when I first got my upper. Fold AR replaced it quickly, and I haven’t had anymore problems.

With this system the old saying "I have a pistol to buy me time to get my rifle," really makes sense. This system makes it so that rifle is not hidden away. Your rifle can be close by and very few people will know it is there. That way you don't have to waste time getting to the rifle, it can be right there with you.

Well done. You are correct. It is not a replacement for your concealed carry(rapid deployment pistol). It is for concealment, and having a full size/power rifle on you at all times. It is fairly quick to deploy however. I just love it because it can be carried anywhere covertly on your person or vehicle. They also make tri-fold teeny tiny short barreled options that are way smaller than the single fold rifle. I believe this to be an outstanding product because I have been researching them since they debuted several years ago. They have been in production longer than most people are aware of. Do a search on them.

Nice review m8. I pick a 9" barrel 300blk one up about 6 months ago now and put a Q Trash Panda on it, been loving this thing. And totally agree you'd want to carry a hip piece as well, but having a rifle on the back or in the car incase you need something bigger is never a bad thing.

I have one of these it's been pretty good for the year I've owned it. My hook did break(a quick little note the hook didn't break during firing it broke before I had even fired a shot when i was training myself to fold and unfold it. I believe it was a defect in the metal ive put well over 900 rounds through it so far with the new hook and no other issues)and as far as ive seen im the only person who has had this failure but their customer service was fantastic I sent them a photo of the damage and they mailed me a replacement in under a week it was as simple as knocking out the old pin removing the hook putting the new hook and pin they sent me in. They also offered to let me mail the entire system back to them so they could do the repair if I didnt feel comfortable doing it myself. To me it's just a great little gun if you go in the woods a lot and need something easier to carry around. It's not really a conceal carry because of the set up time, the really big benefit of the gun is being able to shoot both .300 blackout and 5.56 with just a barrel system swap. Highly recommend them if this is something you're interested in.

This is by far the best FoldAR you can get, everything else is just waste unless you collect several, for me I can just swap out the upper barrel and its another animal. I too agree just put the red dot sight on or suppressor, nothing else matters because at the end of the day , if your pistol is close use it but if you have the time then bring out your big George and “say hello to friend”! Lol

This would be great to carry in my backpack when hunting Varmints/Invasive species from my Motorcycle. I live in rural lands with lots of dirt trails. So i use a KLR 650 (Gen3) to traverse the properties. With my current set up which is just a standard 16" barrel AR-15. My barrel tends to stick out the top of my backpack (even when taken apart) when going down the road. Which causes people to be "concerned" even though it is completely legal.

The thing that worries me about the "self defense guns in schools" movement is that police will have to be entirely retrained for those situations - and we haven't really seen any emphasis on retraining police to be less aggressive, frankly it's been the opposite. The police are notorious for mag dumping on the first person they see with a gun in stressful situations, and have shot and killed people who used a legal firearm in self defense, or simply are holding a weapon and have committed no crime. I fear that the first couple situations where a rifle in a school saves students will result in police mag dumping a brave teacher.

These guns are overpriced and under-quality. Get or build a good quality gun and put a LAW folder on it if you need to make it a "backpack" gun. Or just pull the pivot and takedown pins and put it in a bag. Please don't waste your money. And thanks for the beginning of the video, which did a fantastic job of showing the absurdity of this system.

The CZ 600 Trail was recently recalled because someone forgot to check that the barrel was actually pinned. A locking lever makes more sense since you'd have to be an absolute moron not to latch it before shooting. However, if you took Fold AR and the CZ 600 Trail and made a mix of both it'd be sick AF. The CZ 600 Trail had an enormous advantage in that headspacing and everything was based on the barrel, so you could swap between 300 Blackout and 5.56 just by swapping the barrel. More importantly, swapping between a short barrel and a longer barrel was also easy. No head spacing, just swap on, swap off. A folding bolt action that can be configured for short range shooting with 62 grain FMJ and long range shooting with a 24" barrel and 77 grain Sierra Matchking HPBT would be pretty damn slick for a lot of folks living in communist nanny states/countries where you're not allowed to own scary looking rifles.
