The One Man Black Thrash Band: Noisey Shreds with Toxic Holocaust

7 жыл бұрынToxic Holocaust has been a one-man operation since 1999, when it was founded by singer, guitarist & now bassist Joel Grind, who is joined by a rotating lineup of live musicians but still handles everything on record. Now involved in the scene for almost 20 years he’s earned the respect of the underground and has also made some serious inroads into the mainstream as well.
We caught up with the band before their Brooklyn show at Saint Vitus, and took Joel on a tour of the cobwebs and creatures of the Morbid Anatomy Museum.

Ok, just my opinion, so don't rip my throat out...Nu metal is lame af, but so is thrash. If you're gonna play abrasive, extreme music, I'd rather go balls to the wall with some death or black metal, or even some crushing, soul-wrenching doom like Khanate or Sunn O))). Hell, I've heard hardcore punk that was more brutal than this guy. Thrash was great for the 80's, I'm sure. But nowadays, compared to what's out there, it sounds watered down and half-hearted to me.

Didn't buy any metal in a while. One day I'm going through the Metal Section and see An Overdose of Death. Saw Joel standing over a nuclear waste barrel on the back and knew it was going to be classic. I wasn't disappointed.

Agreed, Municipal Waste second, purely because TH has more great albums. The Waste came back with a vengeance with 'Slime and punishment' though.

Any time they come to Texas, I always make sure to go. Joel is seriously a super cool and nice guy, and as long as I live, I'll never miss a show. My favorite band since '05.

meddelhed I played in several bands and went to countless shows. People on xanax are different compared to drunk people. They are slurring their words out in another way than drunks, they act similar but still different.

ich komme auch aus deutschland und xanax/benzos sind alles andere als selten. da starke benzos häufig verschrieben werden kursieren die dinger auch gern mal auf der straße herum. ist nicht mal schwer welche ohne rezept zu kaufen. ist aber wirklich nichts was ich empfehlen würde. benzos entspannen einen, machen einen aber emotional und körperlich taub.

I know, I know... there are a lot of better black thrash bands out there, but TH is my favourite one. I've always loved the good-friendly-violent fun, the music's transporting. Cheers,Noisey... because of that interview, I understand that phenomenon a bit better. (What a pleasant bloke!)
