Like all good TED Talks, this gave me pause and several things to think about. Will have to watch a few more times. Some initial thoughts: I have faced the conundrum of feeling the temptation to “ape” traditional demonstrations of authority and leadership in order to be persuasive and effective. As a member of the “traditional power holder” gender and race, the temptation is always there. But that is not the leader I wanted to be. There are elements of that traditional leadership model that I aspire to (protect your team and be the one that suffers the most when things are hard) but there are also elements that are missing from that traditional model that I think should be there. And they are part of the type of leader I try to be, such as having a nurturing spirit.

A good leader has a clear vision for the future and can effectively communicate it to their team.

Perhaps. However, there may be a hint of survivor bias in this statement because - by definition - we will be using examples of where this is the case to make the case. Humans are notoriously bad at making accurate predictions but equally notoriously good at a hindsight bias to explain things after they occur. I would counter with a rephrasing, "a good leader has a clear vision of the present and can effectively communicate it to their team."

Hey! from France. Good luck with your strikes and take care of each other to be able to hold longer. But if you want to be noticed you can do a "casserolade", it's an old french "recipe" to make some noise. I don't talk about cuisine, I talk about an "old" way to protest in the street to make noise and/or music with a pan or a saucepan and spoons made of wood. It's quite festive. ;-)

And here is a smarter way to pray... just kidding, to think: Don't ask yourself if you have good reasons to think what you think (confirmation bias) but rather ask yourself if you have bad reasons to believe what you are so confortable to think. In a nutshell, the way of the lawyers versus the way of the good scientists. ;-)

Luckily we can also give mercy to people who believe in God without there being one💙. She mentioned how faith is learned.... can you see how that happens across all religions, with the many different gods that every religion thinks is the "only one" . I'm always curious how people reconcil that?
