Don't forget you can also adjust a video playback speed in the settings menu next to the captions. x0.75 works great for me.

Not at 3:15 where the rulebook says "Choose one Combat Proficiency". That one needs to be different. But then at 4:05 where you start adding points from "Previous Experience" you can. It will be expensive though, costing 6 points to move from a proficiency of 2 to 3. Does that answer your question?

I think it might be a bit easier. I'm working on a full review at the moment that will cover more thoughts. But the character creation in TOR is more straight forward than 5e. Having the Target Numbers be on the player's sheets is a bit easier to understand that Difficulty Classes that are just in the DMs head. And I have never found a good way to explain how spell slots work in 5e so not having magic simplifies things. I hope this helps.

I have been playing lots rpgs (5E included), and in my opinion one ring got pretty easy rules, compares to some other systems. But unlike Will I think TN on character sheet, its little confusing for some players (me included), but nothing too hard to handle after some play. TOR know what its want to be: a storytelling rpg in set time and place, where party are heroes fighting with shadow, witch can be its strenght, compared to some systems (especially 5E) witch claims to be good for everything (and ends up lack of focus), and rules respect that focus.

@@willattheworldsend I find the way to explain spell slots is to equate them to the spoons concept. the concept that people have a limited number of mental energies to use on daily activities. (It originally was used as a metaphor for how disability can cause someone to ration their energy throughout the day). So, spell slots are metaphorical representations of a casters mental and spiritual energy to perform their spells. (A more accurate representation would most likely be the spell points variant rule.) An example from popular media could be from the hobbit movies when Galadriel aided Gandalf and tried to banish Sauron. Afterward she was very weak and tired, not because she spent a lot of physical energy but because the effort exhausted her very core.
