I never realized how emotionally painful this song was before. A lot of Katy perry songs are but you don’t notice it cause it’s pop music. Listen to glee sing teenage dream acoustic. It’s just as heartbreaking.

I completely agree, in season 4 I believe it was, when Blaine sang teenage dream to Kurt in New York once again the acoustic version heightened the effect of the song. He sang it with so much emotion and it was heartbreaking because right after Blaine told Kurt that he cheated on him. They portrayed the emotion perfectly though, I never cry during shows or movies and I think it’s safe to say that scene had me sobbing for a while.

I never really felt the meaning of this song until recently when I lost the love of my life almost two months ago after he ended an almost three year relationship. He always promised that we’d be forever, that I was the one he’d spend eternity with. He always loved talking about the little family we’d get to have together, our wedding, everything. He promised to always be with me and that he’d never leave me. But he did. The one who I also believed was my forever, left in the blink of an eye. Now I understand the meaning of this song more. Because I hope that in another life I would be his girl forever and that all our promises were kept. I’m moving on now, as much as it still hurts I’m not allowing this heartbreak to hold me back from my goals. He did teach me a lot however. And gave me something I could only dream of happening. He taught me to love myself, and to be confident. He taught me to see the beauty in the little things and to always remain hopeful. It’s because of him that I’m stronger today than I was yesterday. He may not be mine anymore but all that he’s taught me will stay with me forever. But I will still pray in hopes of him coming back. I’ll keep praying for him, and for the one I’m meant to be with to come soon and stay. I’ll pray to meet the one meant for me, and pray for him because I trust fate’s timing. I trust that it will work out in the end. I trust that fate has something set out for me, all I have to do is trust the timing.

When you realize this song is about your lover dying, it makes this even sadder. The music video shows that he left after a huge argument where she ruined his artwork, possibly saying things she now regrets. The older her in the video is reminiscent on the guy, possibly because he was practically perfect for her. It lines up more with Katy's song Thinking Of You.

I knew this one boy at the end of the school year. We fell in love and had the best start to the summer. We went to concerts, called each other every day, waited and saw each other off at the train station, laughed and had fun as best we could. I didn't see him for a long time because he was working in another city. I was so happy to see him again, I missed his warm hug and laugh. It’s crazy that this girl was the one I wanted for the rest of my life, people judged me for wanting to be with her, she was my everything, I loved her so much but she didn’t know how much I did. I was so scared that I would lose her that I pushed her away, she meant so much to me and it sucks to see it end the way it did but I guess that’s just part of life. Same, I felt that too, man I just move on, and until this song came on the radio, and I just started to think about that person, who used to be my bestfriend and my lover. I don't wanna think about that person! I wish I never met that person! :/ i moved on and had another lover, who loves me and fell in love with. Thinking about that person, my first love, is just crushes me, but I had to move on. We all have to move on and forget that person, but it hurts so much. How many times we get down, you'll find a way to get back up and there still be someone who will love you and understands you, and accepts you for who you are. You just gotta be patience until your day, the day you'll finally find the one.

All our memories just flashed right in front of my eyes, thinking that I will never, ever find another girl like her, thinking that I can't bring her back. She was the one man, she changed me in a good way without even trying, without her even noticing that she was the reason. The reason why I wake up everyday with her in my mind and smiling and filled with positivity. The reason why I worked hard so I can give her the future that she deserves. The reason why I'm not dead. She.. saved me. If only I could've done the same to her. I would die for her. I would replace her death, I'd rather die. So Atleast I can guide her from above and still see how beautiful she is. She died because she got hit by a car. Her last wish for me is to keep on doing what I'm doing, keep living for her, keep being the person that she knew, and that no one would ever replace her from my heart. Desirea Jade Don’t know if this helps because I know that when I was in your position nothing anyone really said took away from the pain but basically if you played this song to me months ago I would of cried and smothered my face in a pillow, and today I listened to this song and smiled from all of the amazing memories me and my boyfriend had made. *Dear Reader* I don’t know you and you don’t know me. Probably we are not even living in the same country. We look different. You may be older than me or younger. We are just completely strangers.
