The inevitable happens and we're devastated. And then we spiral off into one of our most disjointed post-show discussions yet.
Please forgive the sound in the video. We ran into a lot of technical issues.

The reason why Claudia looked at Lestat before she died, that final look wasn't to punish Lestat. Hayles says it was "for help," Hayles says "she trusts him the most out of anyone in the room even though she hates him. They're familiar with each other, so she's turning to her parent for help" LESTAT PROBABLY COULDN'T EVEN MOVE AND JUST HAD TO WATCH HER-(PROBABLY FROM GETTING ALL MIND JACKED BY EITHER THE COVEN OR ARMAND) Louis, Claudia and Lestat were all getting mind jacked! 'I was concentrating so hard on his face (Lestat) and it was so sad. "She understood Claudia's last look to Lestat as how any child would look to a parent in a moment of distress. "The way that she looks is like all hope is lost, like, 'DAD, I NEED YOU" That's so sad, so heartbreaking! Even after everything 😭😭💔💔

I agree also because once you’re burning, and there’s only pain and what thoughts and words you can put together, all the hate goes. Like when you are terrified for your life and some people call to their mothers. It’s a natural response to distress and despair. And he was the only one left of her family there.

The tragic part is that they never got closure. Their relationship is like that of troubled kids with overbearing, strict parents who often contribute to their children's behavior and own animosity they have towards them. During the trial, Claudia learns that it was actually Louis who forced Lestat to make her, not the other way around, in an attempt to trap him. At her death, Lestat quickly realizes that Claudia did love him in her own way. She still trusts him to some extent and is willing to let down her strong facade to seek his help. During the whole burning scene she was basically acting like a G until she got scared and wanted her dad. Lestat himself probably felt confused and conflicted because she constantly talked about how much she hated him only to realize she didn’t. By that point she was already gone. I don’t know what stopped Lestat from interfering but something tells me the last part before she faded away will probably haunt him for a long time. In the books it is revealed they jumped him and purposely made him weak. Meanwhile Armand basically wanted Claudia gone anway so he can have Louis to himself.

In the book, Lestat was a physical and emotional mess. He was still recovering from being slashed , burned, and buried in New Orleans. He was summoned by the coven to testify. If you recall the scene at attorney Roget's office, Céleste and Estelle were searching for Lestat, and Santiago was drawing out the information via telepathy.

What I love about Madeleine is that she was shunned and abused by her community for sleeping with a German soldier to survive. And she tells Armand about seeing her neighbor put on her chic dresses but become more and more like a skeleton as she starved. Madeleine made the choice to ignore any moral or ethical principles just to survive. But at the end, she was given the same choice: join us and denounce your new family and we’ll let you live your second life or die. She made the right decision at the end and stuck with Claudia even if it meant her death. I loved her arch.

I doubt lestat crossed an ocean for revenge. Tru the whole trial hes contradicting himself, the coven is constantly trying to stir him in the right direction when he loses focus and goes off script (which is when hes actually being honest) which btw WHY is he losing focus and literally wobbling in some scenes? Whats that about? My theory is the coven was controlling claudia and louis and Armand was controlling lestat

If one lesson is to be learned from this it's that if you're a vampire, stay the hell away from any covens. They are a bunch of bitches. You're better off on your own for eternity. Claudia should have headed Lestats warning and stayed far away from them. There's a reason Lestat called them a society of monsters. This episode shows how monstrous they are. To be fair, they have had to live by those rules as well. Santiago's maker was destroyed for making him without permission, and he was probably given the same choice Madeline was given. He probably still held resentment for that. The coven added extra insult to the "trial" by making the mortal audience their jury. For vampires to be judged and sentenced by mortals is degrading. Vampires look at humans as inferior, "cattle", as Armand referred to them earlier. Especially, since many in this audience were fans of Claudias Baby Lu Lu character. They went from addoring fans to calling for her death.

Yep, she should have listened to Lestat. But like any normal child she was curious and wondered if there was a better life out there with people like her. She got her answer but in the most deviating fashion. All she wanted was to belong to her people and be loved by others of her own kind. Tragic.

Armand never left the coven, he moved in with Louis so he wouldn't stop by the Theatre while they were rehearsing....this play was written by Armand to get rid of Claudia to have Louis to himself. Are we to believe the Vampire Sam could stop the ancient coven leader Armand from preventing all of this? Armand has glamored Lestat after physically and mentally torturing him. Louis never asked Armand to manipulate his mind , everything was his attempt to keep love and Louis. The man is a prisoner in Dubai....let's not talk about the rocks in the retreat being the same as the coffin he was buried in and the floating bookshelves...Louis doesn't fly. What people forget is that in Vampire law, Lestat is the head of their New Orleans coven. They read the laws earlier in the season. Coven leaders have the power over life and death in the coven. It’s not vamp illegal for a coven leader to kill a coven member. But it is illegal for them to kill their leader.
@Maggie-Brown
@Maggie-Brown 25 күн бұрын
It's all made up... the rules don't matter just because they say they do. Santiago and the others broke those "rules" many times. It's all an excuse. If the rules mattered they would have killed Lestat for breaking the 2nd law. And Lestat isn't even dead so whose murder are they being tried for?
@mieroth
@mieroth 24 күн бұрын
Yes, vampires are very territorial and their laws are territory-based. Which makes perfect sense since you can't have too many vampires in one city since their kill count would be too high, so it's a fight for resource/food/humans. Paris is Armand's territory, so all vampires within the city need to announce themselves to the coven when they arrive and he would be on the watch for anyone that enters his territory. New Orleans (and most of the "new world") was unclaimed by vampires, so Lestat automatically became the coven leader for the city once there was more than one vampire there. Vampires are as a rule very solitary creatures, so whenever they group up and live together that is a coven. It's also why they explicitly made mention of the fact that Claudia did not run into Bruce in New Orleans but when she was away from the city, because her abduction wouldn't have been possible otherwise since Lestat would have been on the lookout for other vampires in his territory and other vampires would have stayed away from New Orleans for that reason. The Vampire Chronicles has very interesting vampire lore in general, and I love how thought out all of it is!

1) Most people would consider it being chosen first for one parent to allow you to manipulate them into helping you murder the other, especially when that person is the love of their life, but not perpetual malcontent Claudia. 🙄 2) At least Claudia's beloved chose her over everything. If only the same could be said about Lestat's beloved, who instead chose to go along with her plot to murder him. 💔 3) Lestat clearly felt remorse and regret and took no satisfaction in Claudia's destruction, which is certainly more than can be said for her when she and Louis tried to murder him. 3) Can someone explain to me the near obsessive devotion that many people appear to have for Claudia? I really just don't get it. It's almost as if this series ISN'T about the epic, passionate romance between Louis and Lestat, but rather The All Claudia All The Time Show. When she turned on them, deliberately tried to ruin them both, then had the audacity to try talking Louis into abandoning Lestat repeatedly, and finally plotted his murder, manipulating Louis into betraying the love of his life by helping her, I was officially DONE with her. I have no idea why seemingly very few people not only don't take issue with any of that, but actually justify all of her actions, hold her accountable for nothing, and celebrate her as the most beloved character on the show. 🤷‍♂

Lestat has always been the fan favorite since the book was released and especially after Tom Cruise portrayed him. However, this generation seems to gravitate more towards Claudia, which isn't a bad thing. Don’t let people’s love for one character upset you just because they appreciate this adaptation of Claudia and what each actress has brought to the role. In the past, and even now, many people care about the story as a whole. But you also need to consider that most of the people who love this portrayal of Claudia are Black women. We are often excluded from quality fantasy shows as main characters. And before you say Bonnie Bennett they completely butchered her and the actress and character was treated horribly. But anyways back to interview. The show addresses race very well and also discusses assault, which many women experience. Claudia deals with her trauma with strength. Which my cousin thoroughly enjoyed because she has experienced it herself and loved how Claudia handled it. It's also worth noting that, ironically, in the show, Claudia is often picked last or seen as a third wheel, but the newer generation is essentially saying they pick her. Claudia didn't get much attention in the past and was overshadowed. However, the series has done great by her, and the writing is phenomenal. At the end of the day, none of these characters are perfect. They all have their faults, some more than others. But Claudia is definitely a tragic character who didn’t deserve to die. This whole entire comment actually saddens me tbh. The fact that you and other people actually think all of these things. I’ve seen a couple of racist stuff on Reddit about the new Claudia. And I hope it has nothing to do with that internally. If so I’ll pray for you. Edit: Also I just read your other comments on this channel and YIKES. Your are one of THOSE IWTV fans

@@BozeDoesGodsWork 1) People’s love for Claudia doesn't upset me. It's more accurate to say that the worshipping of the ground she walks on both confuses and astounds me, especially when other characters are crucified for their actions while she's never held accountable in the least for any of hers. 2) If this generation really does gravitate more towards Claudia, they may be incredibly disappointed in the series from this point on with only second-rate characters like Louis, Lestat, Armand, and Daniel remaining to keep them entertained. Also, you would think that if anyone would appreciate the excellent queer content the series is built on, it would be gay viewers like me, but alas...even they are more enamored with Claudia than any other character. 3) Claudia didn’t deserve to die, but Lestat did? I find both of those assertions debatable to say the least. 4) The race card? Really? Because I have negative opinions about a character who in this case happens to be black? And worse yet, the audacity to express them? I had the same opinions when the character was played by Kirsten Dunst, but whatever. I suppose racism also explains why I think both Jacob Anderson and Assad Zaman are quite beautiful and I ardently ship Louis and Lestat. And why my last serious relationship was with a black guy. And why the guy I currently have a massive crush on is Nicaraguan. If I say something negative about a gay character, does that make me a homophobe, despite the fact that I’m actually gay myself? You may view everything through the lens of color, but I don’t think I do. So save your prayers for someone who needs them. 5) Please elaborate on what you mean by “YIKES…you’re one of THOSE IWTV fans.” One of the few who’s not obsessively devoted to Claudia?

Agreed. Lynching is a much more powerful statement that comes with all of the historical context for these black vampires. That would certainly turn the atmosphere cold. 41:31 I wonder why they didn’t go there.

Yeah, I guess to really watch this show, you have to realize you're watching and sometimes empathizing and cheering for characters who kill people on a nightly basis. Claudia had probably killed tens of thousands of people at that point. She was a prolific killer even as far as vampires go. She even collected trophies, recorded their last words for her amusement, and kept half dead people in her closet. All vampires are murderers. I think that is part of the reason their punishment for themselves are so severe. They have very little mercy on themselves because I think they even know that they may actually deserve it. When you kill to survive, you get very little mercy when you break the rules. In a way, I would compare it to the Mafia. It's an underground society of murderers with their own laws and own punishments, and very few punishments are anything but death. When you get into that life, you're accepting responsibility and accepting the most likely consequence of breaking the rules is death. They even have a similarity to each other by referring to bringing in a new member as "being made". There is very little sympathy for when one of them breaks the rules and gets a death sentence because they are all murderers.

Screw Claudia because she is spoiled jealous resentful and evil deep down CLAUDIA deserved what she got because if you do the crime u have to do the time. Really Lestat is the best character on here Louie got on my nerves so much because I knew he was lying and he himself had issues is all about him. Lestat told him to stay away from his family he didn't listen. And because he didn't listen his family noticed the weirdness and the strain this of him becoming a vampire like his eye color and his body movements and things like that. I don't believe lestat killed Paul I think Paul was jealous that his sister was getting married he looks upset from the beginning of that wedding and he knew what he was going to do. Usually when people are alive themselves they come to peace and they still happy and they smile because I have the decision made that they are leaving this depressing earth for good

Do you realize this is a fictional series based on vampirism? There is no “if you do the crime you have to do the time.” They are vicious killers. Even Lestat was proud of Claudia’s brutal habits. Only Louie refused to get on board. Secondly, there was only one reason for that trial and its subsequent outcome, and it had absolutely nothing to do Lestat, even though they claimed it did. They hated Armand’s closeness to Louie and his (Louie) refusal to join the Coven. Claudia’s diaries were a sweet gift to them. They finally found a reason to get rid of him. That’s why in episode 8, Louie will burn that place to the ground and kill them all.

@@alvidean22she did take an oath knowing that she had previously broken at least two of the rules and was still breaking one of them.

I've noticed some unsettling comments in every reaction video I watch. I had no idea people were this upset about the new Claudia. Overall, she seems to be well-received by most viewers. However, some toxic Lestat fans are completely over the top. I've also noticed some misogynoir and anti-Black sentiments in many of the messages. It's sad that some people don't want Black women to have anything. The ironic part is that Lestat didn't want Claudia to die at all. He loved her in his own way, and she was still his child. Yet his so-called fans are applauding a scene where she dies, which has subliminal references to anti-Black lynchings that many people also peeped. If some of these people said the things they say about Claudia to Lestat, he would not only tear them apart verbally but probably kill them too. I'd bet money on that.

@@BozeDoesGodsWork what is misogynoir? I admit that I'm not the biggest Claudia fan. I thought she was constantly using Louis guilt to manipulate him, and trying to tear him and Lestat apart. She never forgave them for making her, and seemed determined to exploit the weak points of their relationship. In my opinion, a lot of it was to stick it to Lestat. She left Louis miserable and broken for seven years, strolls in and gives a half ass apology and tries to get Louis to leave the man who stuck with him through his misery while she was gone. Even in this episode, she was in his ear telling Louis not to accept Lestats apology and telling him it's too late. She got up and basically told Louis that it was never about her and he never cared about her. After all he has done, she still plays on his guilt and says he doesn't care about her. Saying all that, I didn't dislike her enough to enjoy watching her die in this episode. I wish her and Madeline would have been able to go their own way and out of Louis life.
