I grew up from age 5 up on a farm. We had cows chickens and pigs and my step dad took part in killing the cows and pigs. I never understood how he could do that and keeps saying that they all had personalities and were all different. I wanted to stop eating all meat at about 7 or 8 because I witnessed one of the killings and couldn't handle it but was forced to keep eating it. I again in my early teens said I wanted to stop eating meat and I wanted to be vegan but my step dad said fine but you will no longer eat any of my food and you will have to buy everything yourself because I will not support you. I was 14 at the time. I have finally followed my heart and I have been vegan for 4 years.

@@Lewdogg123 don't you think that most large-scale factory farms have sufficient funds to be used differently? (Govt subsidies) Also, the butcher doesn't "produce" the meat, and likewise the oat milk maker doesn't necessarily have to grow the oats themselves. I think he did mention that they were meant to be growing veggies as well. The point is that if you're a farmer, you don't have to contribute to the cruelty. As veganism becomes more popular the demand for plant based products will grow, and thus the agricultural industry will have to adapt. It isn't sustainable to be using most land/plants to feed livestock for human consumption, when we can be directly feeding that to humans. There's no need for exploiting animals.
@Lewdogg123
@Lewdogg123 3 жыл бұрын
@@shellyfiguereo6016 what is your academic background to be saying that it isn’t sustainable? Sustainability has more factors to it than just carbon production. They don’t even differentiate between methane and CO2, like seriously. Soil health, soil structure, microbes, butterflies, less tractor work and more more reasons as to why we need grass and animals to help us farm sustainably. I also don’t think you know anything about subsidies so your not in a place to comment on them, especially now the have changed them to an environmental scheme. Most farms in the uk are not factory farms. And nobody said butchers produce the meat, they sell it. What kind of crappy comparison was that? This man has gone from producing food on the farm to juicing oats in his shed he ain’t even producing- sUstAinABle 🥴

Hello again. Hoping you are able to reclaim your health soon but in the meanwhile I am very against promoting a fasting diet to children. There is nothing worse. Children need animal foods to grow and develop optimally and have since the beginning of time. It is incredibly bizarre to me people can listen to sources like "nutrition facts" run by someone who looks like he has incredibly poor health himself and get brainwashed into thinking this is ok for CHILDREN. It deeply saddens me to think there are children in the western world looking developmentally like they're from the 3rd world with malformed jaws and blackened eyes. I understand you think this is a healthful diet for yourself, but if there is any doubt in your mind please pause before promoting this for children. All of the authentic vegan children I'm aware of do not look good compared to a standard omnivore child and that should be a red flag to anyone thinking clearly. Take care

@@jessica6513 What are you even talking about. A lot of absolute nonsense, that has nothing to do with my comment, and is filled with lies, which are contradicted by pretty much every dietetics organization, from the US, to Australia, UK, and Canada. "It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes." - American Dietetic Association "The results of an evidence-based review showed that a vegetarian diet is associated with a lower risk of death from ischemic heart disease. Vegetarians also appear to have lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension and type 2 diabetes than nonvegetarians. Furthermore, vegetarians tend to have a lower body mass index and lower overall cancer rates. Features of a vegetarian diet that may reduce risk of chronic disease include lower intakes of saturated fat and cholesterol and higher intakes of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, soy products, fiber, and phytochemicals." - American Dietetic Association "Despite these restrictions [a lack of animal products], with good planning it is still possible to obtain all the nutrients required for good health on a vegan diet." - Dietitian's Association of Australia "Well planned vegetarian [and strict vegetarian] diets can be nutritious and healthy. They are associated with lower risks of heart disease, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, obesity, certain cancers and lower cholesterol levels. This could be because such diets are lower in saturated fat, contain fewer calories and more fiber and phytonutrients/phytochemicals (these can have protective properties) than non-vegetarian diets." - British Dietitians Association "A healthy vegan diet has many health benefits including lower rates of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer." and "A healthy vegan diet can meet all your nutrient needs at any stage of life including when you are pregnant, breastfeeding or for older adults." - Dietitians of Canada

OP do you ever appeal to their knowledgeability and experience in recognizing animal sentience? For example, as Joey mentioned, whether they like to overtly admit it or not, farmers are likely to have a more in depth knowledge and depth of experience in recognizing animal sentience given that they live with these poor victims in close contact frequently.

Well done Joey👏 I've only recently (last few days) joined your movement. I've been a vegetarian for a couple of years and there is a widespread condemnation (generally warranted) of farmers, so I really applaud you trying to uncover one of the very few farms that conduct their business with the animal's welfare at the heart of their agrarian model. So so much respect to you for bringing this alternative story to light. You really are an inspiration and proud to be part of the movement and on my way to being one of veganism's footsoldiers. Keep up your tremendous work. I have helped to move my mum towards veganism and my auntie and her partner are moving in that direction too. Its incredibly transformative this movement and feel very humbled to be part of it🙏
